To***co is harming our fellow Delawareans. More than 31% of all cancer deaths in Delaware are linked to smoking.

For the health of our state, we recognize World No To***co Day. My colleagues and I will keep doing what we can to raise awareness about the dangers of to***co.

Our bill recognizing Puerto Rico Day in Delaware is officially ready to be signed by Governor Meyer.

I am so grateful to be able to use this platform to celebrate one of my favorite things on earth: my community. This bill is about highlighting Delaware's beautiful Puerto Rican community and cementing our place here, because our contributions to society deserve to be recognized, respected, and celebrated!

Thank you to Sen. Elizabeth "Tizzy" Lockman for carrying this bill through the Senate, and thank you to Governor Matt Meyer for your forthcoming signature.

I encourage everyone to come out and witness the Governor signing this bill on June 11th! We'll be having a big celebration complete with resources, food, music, and live performers. The only thing missing is you!

This is for us! All of us!

Wilmington lost an absolute giant with the passing of Charlotte Miller-Lacy. I want to extend my deepest condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones. I know this loss is one that will be felt deeply.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Charlotte for many years now. I know from personal experience that she was more than just strong. She was fearless, selfless, and one of the biggest inspirations our local communities, and especially our young women and girls, had.

Her passion for others was so clear. You could see it in every action she took. You could feel it in every conversation you had with her. You could hear it in the hallways at MSK. There is truly no amount of time that could heal a wound this large.

But I believe in our community, and most importantly, I believe in Charlotte’s legacy. I know everything she has built will continue to live and breathe life into our neighborhoods for more generations to come. Every heart she’s touched will go on to change another.

She is exactly who our young people needed to see serving their community, and encouraging them to aspire to do something bigger than themselves. I want to thank Charlotte for being a light in my life and creating the spaces she did for all of us.

Since 1998, folic acid has been federally required to be added to bread, flour, cornmeal, rice, pasta, and other grain products to enrich them and reintroduce the critical nutrients that are lost during milling. This decision came from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, citing evidence that the risk of neural tube defects such as spina bifida and anencephaly in newborn infants decreased if mothers took folic acid before pregnancy.

By expanding the fortification requirement to consider our cultural diversities, we can actually move toward a future that levels the playing field for us all . HB 337 is a meaningful step toward reducing the negative birthing outcomes and reducing occurrences of the diseases that are constantly affecting our minority communities.
