Wilmington lost an absolute giant with the passing of Charlotte Miller-Lacy. I want to extend my deepest condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones. I know this loss is one that will be felt deeply.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Charlotte for many years now. I know from personal experience that she was more than just strong. She was fearless, selfless, and one of the biggest inspirations our local communities, and especially our young women and girls, had.
Her passion for others was so clear. You could see it in every action she took. You could feel it in every conversation you had with her. You could hear it in the hallways at MSK. There is truly no amount of time that could heal a wound this large.
But I believe in our community, and most importantly, I believe in Charlotte’s legacy. I know everything she has built will continue to live and breathe life into our neighborhoods for more generations to come. Every heart she’s touched will go on to change another.
She is exactly who our young people needed to see serving their community, and encouraging them to aspire to do something bigger than themselves. I want to thank Charlotte for being a light in my life and creating the spaces she did for all of us.
