🔥 BURN BAN REMINDER — PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION 🔥

As a reminder, we are still under a burn ban. Please be extremely careful with anything that could create a spark or ignition source.

With the hot, dry conditions we are experiencing, it takes very little to start a fire, and once started, it can grow out of control incredibly fast.

The Ross Fire in Palo Pinto and Jack Counties is a sobering example. It has grown to approximately 80,000 acres with only 12% containment. This shows just how quickly a fire can grow under the conditions we are currently experiencing.

🚒 Newark Fire is fully staffed again today to ensure we can respond quickly to any grass or wildland fires in our area. Our crews are ready, but we need everyone’s help preventing these fires before they start.

Please be cautious with outdoor activities that can create sparks, including welding, grinding, mowing, dragging chains, and improperly discarded ci******es. One spark is all it takes.

Please continue to pray for the safety of all firefighters and first responders working these fires, the families and communities affected, and for some much-needed rain across Texas. 🙏🔥

🔥Newark Fire is fully staffed and ready today!

With the extreme heat and increased grass fire danger, Newark Fire is fully staffed today to help ensure a quick response if we’re needed.

We also want to give a huge THANK YOU to Wise County ESD #1 for allowing us to borrow a brush truck while one of ours is out of service getting a new bed installed. That kind of cooperation between departments is what it’s all about — neighbors helping neighbors.

Please be extremely cautious with anything that could cause a spark or start a fire today. Conditions are hot and dry, and a small fire can quickly become a big one.

Most importantly, please keep all of our firefighters and first responders in your prayers. This Texas heat is brutal on its own, but working a fire in full protective gear takes it to another level.

Stay safe, stay cool, and help us prevent the next fire. 🚒🔥

🔥 3 WEEKENDS OF LIVE FIRE TRAINING COMPLETE! 🔥

Over the past three weekends, firefighters have had the opportunity to participate in some incredible hands-on training. None of this would have been possible without the many people and organizations who gave their time, knowledge, equipment, and resources to make it happen.

A huge THANK YOU to our instructors who brought years of experience and put on some outstanding training:

A very special thank you to the Eagle Mountain Church Rehab Team. They were with us all three weekends, providing snacks, water, Gatorade, and helping keep our firefighters hydrated and taken care of. Having them there serving our crews each weekend was truly a blessing, and we can’t thank them enough.

We also had several businesses step up to support this training:

• Kyle Erwin with Aspen Rental in Boyd – donated the restrooms and wash station
• Lowe’s – provided a discount on materials needed for the training
• Russell Feed – donated all of the hay used during training

📸 We also want to give a huge thank you to Rachel Jones for capturing some amazing photos throughout all three weekends. These photos gave us a chance to document the hard work, training, and memories made along the way. We truly appreciate her being there and sharing her talent with us!

Having firefighters from so many different departments come together to train, learn, and share experience is what the fire service is all about. We had a great turnout all three weekends, including firefighters who traveled a considerable distance to participate.

We also want to thank Wise County ESD #1 for covering calls for us during the final day so our firefighters could concentrate on completing the training. We greatly appreciate neighboring departments working together to make opportunities like this possible.

Thank you as well to Wise County ESD #3 for providing their air truck during the final day and keeping our SCBA bottles filled so our crews could continue working.

Live-fire training provides experience that simply cannot be duplicated in a classroom. It gives firefighters the opportunity to practice search and rescue, VEIS, ladders, self-rescue, fire attack, teamwork, communication, and decision-making in realistic conditions.

Three weekends. A lot of hard work. A lot of lessons learned. And firefighters going home better prepared to serve their communities.

🔥 LIVE FIRE TRAINING UNDERWAY 🔥

Live fire training is happening today. The training house is currently burning and is putting off a significant amount of smoke that may be visible throughout the area.

There is no need for alarm. This is a scheduled and controlled training exercise involving multiple fire departments. Fire crews are on scene, and everything is under control.

Training like this gives our firefighters valuable hands-on experience in realistic fire conditions and helps prepare them for the real thing when our communities need us most.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding while our firefighters take advantage of this important training opportunity.

Day 2 of Live Fire Training is underway! 🔥

We have a great group of firefighters out here today sharpening critical lifesaving skills through VEIS (Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search) training. This technique is designed to help firefighters quickly locate and rescue victims while improving safety for both our crews and those we’re sworn to protect.

The only way to be ready for someone’s worst day is to train for it. We’re proud of the dedication our volunteers continue to show by giving up their weekends to become better firefighters for our community.

🚒 We Need a Few Helping Hands! 🚒

We’re looking for a few volunteers to help us get our live fire training house ready.

We need to hang Sheetrock to create 3 training rooms. The walls and ceilings of all three rooms will need to be covered.

This isn’t a finish job—we don’t need perfection! In fact, we don’t even need many screws. Just enough to hold the sheets in place for a few days. Four screws per sheet on the walls is plenty. The entire house will eventually be used for live fire training and will be burned as part of the exercise.

We’re hoping to get this done sometime between Wednesday the 12th thru Friday the 14th of next week, depending on everyone’s availability.
