A huge THANK YOU to the Boyd 4-H for their generous donation of water, Gatorade, and snacks! Your support and appreciation for local first responders does not go unnoticed, and we are incredibly grateful for your kindness.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the residents of Chisholm Springs for their donation of water and Gatorade. Gestures like these help keep our volunteers fueled, hydrated, and ready to answer the call whenever our community needs us.

The support we receive from our neighbors is truly humbling. We are blessed to serve such a caring and generous community. Thank you all for standing behind your Newark Fire Department!

⚠️ Traffic Alert / Gas Leak ⚠️

UPDATE: Gas leak has been closed off. The gas company will be on scene late into the night as they fix that line and another leak they found close by. The resident displaced has been allowed to return home as well.

Newark Fire and emergency crews are currently on scene of a gas leak at the corner of FM 718 and Brown Street. Brown Street is closed at this time, and one nearby home has been evacuated as a precaution.

Crews are working to get the leak secured, but this incident is expected to last several hours. Please avoid the area if possible and use extreme caution while traveling on FM 718, as emergency personnel and equipment are operating along the roadway.

Today from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM, members and volunteers will once again be out collecting signatures for the proposed Wise County ESD #5 petition.

This petition is simply to allow the measure to be placed before the voters on the November election ballot so the citizens of the proposed district can decide the future of fire protection services in the area. Signing the petition does NOT create the ESD — it only allows the community the opportunity to vote on it.

We have included the proposed coverage area map for everyone to review and ask questions about.

🗺️ Map Explanation:• Red areas represent the proposed ESD boundaries.• Blue areas represent city limits that are currently NOT included in the ESD.• The area between the red and blue lines represents the cities’ ETJ (Extra Territorial Jurisdiction). Those areas are still to be discussed and voted on by each city as to whether they will be included in the ESD boundaries or not.

Crews will be available with information and happy to answer questions about what an ESD is and how it could help improve fire protection services for the area.

📍 Signature Locations Today:• Newark Corner Store — FM 718 & FM 3433• Oliver Creek Store — FM 2264 & CR 4421• Crews will also be walking the Shale Creek neighborhood throughout the day.

Over the next several weeks, members of the Newark Volunteer Fire Department will be out in the community collecting petition signatures to allow the creation of Wise County ESD #5 to be placed on the November ballot.

This petition does NOT create the ESD — it simply gives the citizens in the proposed district the opportunity to vote and decide for themselves in November.

So what is an ESD?
An Emergency Services District (ESD) is a dedicated funding source for fire and emergency services. This funding would help improve emergency response by allowing:

• Paid firefighters in the station
• Faster response times
• More personnel responding to emergencies
• Better equipment and training
• Long-term stability for fire protection as our area continues to grow

Members will also have information available explaining what an ESD is, how it works, and the proposed district map. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Our goal is simple: continue providing the highest level of service possible to the communities we proudly protect.

Today, Newark Fire trained at TCC on apartment fire operations.

From heavy smoke conditions to live fire attack, our crews put in the work to sharpen their skills in a realistic environment. Training like this prepares us for the challenges we face right here in our community.

We continue to train, grow, and push ourselves every day—because when the call comes, our community deserves our best.

Thank you to TCC for providing a great facility and opportunity.

🚨 Newark Fire Department 🚨
Due to the power outages affecting many of our residents, Newark Fire will be opening the station for anyone needing to shower.
🕔 Hours: 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM
📍 Location: Newark Fire Station
We have both male and female bathrooms, each equipped with a shower.
🧼 Please bring your own soap and personal hygiene supplies.
🧻 We do have a limited number of towels available if needed.
We’re here to help our community—neighbors helping neighbors. Stay safe, and don’t hesitate to come by if you need us.

🚨 Weather Alert – Newark Area 🚨

The storm siren has been activated due to a tornado threat moving toward Newark, along with strong winds and hail.

All residents are urged to stay alert and take cover immediately. Move to an interior room, away from windows, and continue monitoring weather updates.

Please stay safe and check on your neighbors if you can do so safely.
