The City of Newark was awarded a Plan4HealthNJ grant, a statewide initiative led by the New Jersey Chapter of theAmerican Planning Association (NJ APA) and funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
The programsupports municipalities in integrating public health considerations into planning, policy, and development decisionsto advance health equity and improve community well-being.As part of this initiative, Newark will develop a Municipal Public Health Element and evaluate how health outcomescan be better incorporated into planning, zoning, housing, transportation, environmental sustainability, andcommunity development efforts.Representatives from the Plan4HealthNJ team will provide an overview of the program, discuss project goals andtimelines, and review the community survey with attendees.
Following the presentation and question-and-answersession, residents will be invited to complete the survey and provide input on health, quality-of-life, and planningpriorities in Newark. Survey results will help inform future planning policies, programs, and investments thatsupport healthier, more equitable, and resilient communities throughout the City.
The survey is available in multiple languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, and Haitian Creole, to encouragebroad community participation. Participants who complete the survey will have the opportunity to enter a drawingfor a $100 gift card.Additional information about the initiative is available at https://plan4healthnj.org/
