On the morning of 9/11, people gathered at the Eagle Rock Reservation in New Jersey to watch the horror in lower Manhattan unfold before their eyes. On Friday, the park in West Orange hosted a memorial to remember those killed in the attacks. NBC New York’s Adam Harding reports.

It was an honor for me to participate in the One-on-One with Steve Adubato and help introduce their video special to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11th tragedies. Steve has emceed our program from the start and I thank him for inviting me to share the story of the Essex County Eagle Rock September 11th Memorial.

The program airs today, September 11th at 7pm on NJ PBS; Saturday, September 12th at 12am on WNET and 7am on NJ PBS; and Sunday, September 13th at 11am on NJ PBS. It also can be seen on SteveAdubato.org, Steve Adubato’s YouTube channel, Thirteen.org, the Thirteen Explore app, MyNJPBS.org, and the NJ PBS app.

Today we remember the men and women whose lives were taken 25 years ago during the September 11 attacks. Our September 11th Memorial in Essex County Eagle Rock Reservation is a special place where family and friends can find solace and comfort. Thank you to Attorney General Davenport for attending our ceremony and sharing remarks. It was also very special to have my granddaughter Hailey in attendance to read names of those who lost their lives who were members of our Essex County community.

Next year, we will have a brand new site as we are going to renovate walkways, irrigation and drainage systems, and enhance landscaping. I am proud that we created this memorial to honor them and that we continue our annual Essex Remembers program. May we Never Forget.

It was a pleasure to join Governor Sherrill for her tour of the Essex County Office of Public Health Management Mobile Health Unit, ahead of the September 19th Back to School Children’s Vaccinations and School Physicals Event, which will be held at Essex County Donald Payne School of Technology in Newark.

By partnering with RWJBarnabas Health, and the New Jersey Department of Health, the Essex County Office of Public Health Management is able to expand our Vaccines for Children Program, ensuring children from throughout Essex County receive the recommended childhood vaccines and school physicals for a successful school year.
