👋 MEET THE TEAM! 💚

Today, we’re featuring Doug Pearl, our Community Services Director!

Doug’s LEADS story is a great example of what can happen when hard work, dedication, and a passion for helping others come together. 🌟

Doug joined LEADS about two decades ago and worked his way up from crew member → team lead → manager → Community Services Director. Along the way, he’s built an incredible depth of experience and a reputation for always being willing to lend a hand. He is routinely called upon by our state and national partners to share his expertise and perspective.

As Community Services Director, Doug oversees our field-based weatherization, home repair, home modification/accessibility, and related services, helping make homes safer, healthier, and more comfortable for the people we serve. 🏠🔨

And if you know Doug, you know he’s one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. ❤️

When he’s not helping LEADS families, you’ll likely find Doug playing guitar 🎸 or chopping firewood 🪓—because apparently, sitting still isn’t really his thing!

We’re lucky to have Doug on the LEADS team!

🏠 Did you know that LEADS serves as a workforce training and development hub?

LEADS partners with the Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development (COAD) to provide an Ohio Weatherization Training Hub right here in Newark!

COAD is headquartered in Athens, Ohio, so having a training hub in Central Ohio makes it easier for weatherization professionals and community action agencies in the northern and central parts of the state to access important hands-on training—without having to travel as far.

🌎 Local training. Regional impact.

We estimate that through hotel stays, meals, and other purchases made by training attendees, this partnership generates more than $150,000 for the local economy.

We're proud to partner with COAD to help build a stronger, more skilled weatherization workforce and make Ohio homes more energy efficient, comfortable, and affordable.

Earlier this week, we were excited to welcome community members into our Marysville Head Start Center for an open house. Families learned about opportunities for their children in Head Start, met with staff, and visited with community partners.

We're so glad that Marysville Public Library, Union County Health Department, Action for Children, Beloved United Methodist Church of Marysville joined in the fun.
