The New York State Italian American Political Action Committee (NYS IAMPAC) packed the house at Absolutely Mario’s in Farmingdale for our Long Island Annual Fundraiser on Thursday, June 18.

It was an extraordinary evening that brought together elected officials, candidates, labor leaders, business professionals, and proud Italian American supporters from across New York to celebrate leadership, public service, and our rich Italian American heritage.

The event recognized an outstanding group of individuals whose dedication to their communities and commitment to public service continue to make a meaningful difference throughout Long Island and New York State.

A Mistake… But Also an Opportunity.

The recent discussion surrounding Mayor Mamdani’s map of New York City’s immigrant neighborhoods, which omitted Little Italy, has understandably caused disappointment throughout the Italian American community.

We believe this was a significant oversight—but it is one that can and should be corrected.
Italian Americans are not simply part of New York’s past; we are an essential part of its present and future.

Our community has helped build New York City and New York State through generations of service, entrepreneurship, labor, military service, public safety, education, healthcare, government, faith, and philanthropy.
Today, more than 3 million Italian Americans call New York State home.

Our heritage extends far beyond Manhattan’s Little Italy, reaching every borough, every region of Long Island, the Hudson Valley, the Capital Region, Western New York, and communities across the entire state.

The New York State Italian American PAC respectfully invites Mayor Mamdani and his team to meet with us and a roundtable of New York’s leading Italian American organizations.

We welcome the opportunity to discuss not only this unfortunate omission, but also how we can work together to ensure the Italian American story is accurately represented and celebrated alongside the many other ethnic communities that have made New York the greatest state in the nation.

This is not about division. It is about recognition, inclusion, and respect.
It is not too late to correct the record.

Italian Americans are engaged citizens. We vote. We volunteer. We build businesses. We create jobs. We support charities. We serve in government and the military.

We strengthen our neighborhoods and contribute to New York in countless ways that extend far beyond campaign contributions.

The NYS Italiian American pac was out on the campaign trail early this year and had an opportunity to drop in to Town Supervisor Ed Smyth’s Fundraiser.

IAM pac board members were joined (holding the pac banner) with Supervisor Ed Smyth* - Councilman Dave Bernardo *and Councilwoman Teresa Mari and Angelo Santamauro.

Representing the NYS IAM PAC was VP’s Anthony Bonomo Jr & Anthony Marotta

In addition joining with Supervisor Ed Smyth is VP Anthony Marotta and his wife our Venezuelan Ambassador to the NYS PAC Laura Marotta.

The Italian American Action Committee along with the NYS IAMpac and LI Columbus Day Parade Committee ( NYS OSDIA ) has been assured that that we can still celebrate our rich shared heritiage at the Columbus Statue ) corner of Lawerence Hill Road / Main Street

This year’s wreath laying ceremony and italian Italian American recognition of our candidates ( NYS IAAC ) and elected officials will take place again this October 8th starting at 4 pm in front of the Columbus statue.

We want to thank the town board for their continued support and preservation of the Christopher Columbus statue

Mark your calendar and save the date (October 8th - 4pm IAAC / 5 pm wreath laying ceremony

A town board member who sponsored the measure said it's an effort to preserve the solemnity of those sites in the wake of some complaints.
