Several major findings are emerging from the APDA Center for Advanced Research at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. Their work reflects some of the most important directions shaping the future of Parkinson’s research, including:

🧬 Understanding disease biology earlier
🧠 Treating both motor and non‑motor symptoms
🔬 Identifying disease‑modifying therapies
📣 Explaining lab discoveries to people with PD

Learn why these initiatives matter for people living with PD in our latest blog article: https://www.apdaparkinson.org/article/emory-center-advanced-research-parkinsons/

We’re thrilled to announce Jason Parkin as the 2026 Iowa Parkinson’s Optimism Walk Honorary Chair!

A LeMars, Iowa, native and graduate of both the University of Iowa and Iowa State University, Jason is a familiar face to Iowans as a meteorologist at WHO 13. He and his wife, Kelly, live in Urbandale with their three boys.

When he’s not forecasting the weather, Jason enjoys riding his bike, spending time with his family and, when he can get one, a good nap!

But this year, Jason’s connection to Parkinson’s is deeply personal. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in January 2026.

We are honored to have Jason lead our 2026 Optimism Walk and help shine a light on the strength, resilience, and optimism of the Parkinson’s community.

Please join Jason and thousands of others across Iowa as we walk together because no one should face Parkinson’s alone. https://secure.qgiv.com/event/apda-2026-walk-parkinsons-iowa/
