We are honored to have NYC's Japan Society and the largest Japanese film festival in our district. During our visit to we got to tour their new exhibit, which is being shown outside of Japan for the first time.
They also hold a large collection of George Nakashima furniture, an important Japanese American designer known for their live-edge woodworking.
They are also one of the few institutions in NYC still using a 35mm analog film projector, which they use to screen rare films loaned from Japan.
We celebrate the incredible work they do to strengthen cultural exchange between New York City and Japan, along with many Japanese American artists, educators, small businesses, and more, who have contributed to the culture of NYC.
