GOSO is proud to be a 2026 Taco Bell Foundation Community Grants recipient. We're thankful for their continuted support of our Career Services program, GOSOWorks, which equips young New Yorkers with the tools, skills, knowledge, and self-awareness to build viable careers. Our vision β€” a world where neither a person's race nor contact with the legal system determines their future β€” isn't possible without partners like Taco Bell Foundation.

Before a GOSO participant ever steps into an internship, they complete career readiness training in the classroom, covering everything from communication to workplace etiquette, as you see here.

From there, our GOSOWorks program matches job-ready participants with employer partners across industries for paid internship-to-employment opportunities. The program meets participants based on their immediate needs and level of work experience, so those who aren't quite ready for the workforce yet still have a path forward, not a closed door.

Many of our partners find that hosting a GOSO participant is one of the most meaningful things they do all year. Interested in becoming an employer partner? Email [email protected].

Our community members at Jefferson Houses are genuinely like family to us. To strengthen this bond, our SAVE team hosts pop up events to connect with them. Our most recent one was incredible. We had RISE come out to lead a "Chat and Paint" focused on healthy relationships, and Stop The Bleed came to demonstrate life-saving techniques for wound care. This is what community looks like.

We're grateful for participants like David whose story of resilience and second chances inspires us daily, and is featured in this month's newsletter. In May 2025, David joined GOSO's SAVE program and chose a new path. Now heading into his senior year, David is focused on his future, planning to attend trade school and eventually pursue a bachelor's degree to become an accountant. He's also putting his skills to work this summer as a junior violence interrupter through the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP).

We continue to show up for the East Harlem community this week, stepping outside our office for a Back to School Block Party hosted by New York's Administration of Children Services and our partner, The Child Center of New York. Despite the weather, we wanted to demonstrate our commitment to supporting young people as they head back to school. πŸ“šβœοΈ

Every young person deserves the chance to rewrite their story. At GOSO, we believe that one mistake should never define a lifetime. That is why we are continuing to spread the word about our recurring giving program. When you join the Second Chance Society and become a monthly donor, you are doing more than giving money. You become a part of a life-changing journey. ✨

Set up your recurring giving plan today. Your ongoing support helps provide consistent mentoring, educational opportunities, job readiness programs, and the encouragement our youth need to succeed.
