“When a community shows up, something shifts — hearts open, confidence grows, and healing begins.”
We felt that deeply at last Saturday’s 'Countering Hate Workshop'. The room was full, people were engaged, and many walked away feeling stronger and more supported.

A gentle reminder to register for Monday’s Islamophobia Post‑Bondi session. This is an important follow‑up to last weekend — a space for us to understand what’s happening, unpack the impact on our community, and learn how we can respond with clarity and unity.

Speaking with on ABC News

Aftab Malik said he will continue advocating for all 54 recommendations because tackling Islamophobia requires more than good intentions—it requires structural change.

He was also equally clear that counterterrorism should never stigmatise Muslim communities. It should work with them.

Muslim communities need to be at the heart of counterterrorism—building trust, sharing intelligence, strengthening partnerships with police, and helping protect all Australians.

Supporting effective counterterrorism and confronting Islamophobia are not contradictory. In fact, one depends on the other.

That is how we build safer communities. That is how we build a stronger Australia.

Aftab Malik joined Hamish Macdonald on ABC Radio to discuss the Australian Government’s response to his report on Islamophobia, the realities facing Australian Muslims, and the ongoing work needed to turn recommendations into meaningful change.

After launching the first edition of the OSECI Papers in Melbourne, I’m now in Perth continuing the discussion on ‘How Can the Healing Begin?’ exploring what Bondi taught us about Islamophobia, antisemitism and the work still required to build a more cohesive Australia.

While One Nation continues to wage war on Muslims, we will wage peace upon peace.

“And when the ignorant address them harshly, they say words of peace.” (Qur’an 25:63)

That is my response to Pauline Hanson.

I will never tire of educating Pauline Hanson and One Nation about Islam. Ignorance is defeated through knowledge, not hostility.
