“In a city like New York, I think food access programs like these are so important to make sure that our most vulnerable neighbors are being fed” - Elizabeth Robillard

Elizabeth has been volunteering with the Crossroads Community Services team for four years during our breakfast services. She learned about our organization through one of our sandwich making events hosted by her company. Walking past our breakfast lines on her way to work each day made her want to help.

We’re so grateful she joined us and continues to be a shining example of what it means when a community comes together!
We love our corporate sandwich making volunteer groups, if you’d like to learn more about enlisting your company, check out our website.

For many of our senior neighbors food insecurity goes beyond the rising cost of groceries, it’s about accessibility.

As New York City’s senior boom reaches 1.55 million, older adults have become the most vulnerable group to food insecurity.

At Crossroads’ we believe all of our senior neighbors should have access to a warm meal, a pantry full of nutritious groceries and dignity.

With the help of our volunteers and donors we continue to create a safe place where friendly faces greet our guests and support the growing needs of our community!

Today we remember those who gave their lives in service to our country.

At Crossroads Community Services, we honor their legacy through our service to others by showing up for our community with food, resources and support for those who need it most.

Patrick joined fellow advocates in Washington, D.C. for the 2026 FRAC National Anti-Hunger Policy Conference, standing alongside organizations and leaders from across the country united in the mission to end hunger and strengthen support for our communities.

At Crossroads, we know that access to nutritious food is essential, and advocacy matters just as much as direct service.

Grateful to be part of the conversation and to continue fighting for policies that support New Yorkers facing food insecurity.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and at Crossroads we see the undeniable connection between a warm meal, reliable community, and emotional well-being.

Crossroads provides services and stability that help our community navigate life’s challenges. This includes everyone: from our neighbors who swing by for a warm meal with dignity, to our volunteers who lean on each other as a safe space for sobriety and a sense of shared purpose.

We’re proud to be a welcoming place where neighbors can come together to build community!

International day of Families was founded by the UN General Assembly in 1993 to focus on social, economic issues families face. Today, in our community, one of the most pressing challenges is food insecurity with numbers hitting record highs.

In New York City, 1 in 4 children now face food insecurity, not knowing where their next meal will come from.

For families living in the Bronx, that number climbs to 27%+

As costs for childcare and housing rise, many neighbors are forced to make the impossible choice between rent or groceries.

At Crossroads, we believe that every family deserves nourishment with dignity.

Happy Mothers Day!

We’re celebrating the resilience of motherhood, and the incredible moms at the heart of the Crossroads’ community.

From our dedicated staff of volunteers, to our guests we wish a celebratory day to those balancing work, caregiving and community building.

Crossroads Community is fueled by the efforts of our wonderful volunteers.

As a volunteer for over fourteen years, Earl has sorted and packed food for our pantry.. By serving our guests in return he has become inspired and “motivated to be the best person he can be, by showing up every week to help”.

We salute you Earl and celebrate you and our fantastic team of volunteers.

Because of our incredible community, we were able to serve over eleven thousand neighbors over twenty-eight thousand meals in April.

As the cost of groceries continues to rise, we’re meeting the growing needs of our neighbors with a commitment to keep our doors open, providing a warm nutritious meal, access to our food pantry, and a place where everyone is welcome.

Want to help us keep the momentum up through May? Click our link in bio to sign up as a volunteer or enroll in a monthly donation.

At Crossroads Community Services, our superheroes are our volunteers. Leading the way to champion the fight against hunger is our volunteer coordinator Steve:

“We can't ignore the poverty that exists right next to us every day. We owe it to our fellow humans to lift others up as much as we can.” - Steve Sakson.

For more than three years, Steve has been a steady, encouraging presence across breakfast and brunch services, annual Fare Share, and overnight shelter programs.
It’s this kind of commitment that ensures our community has access to food, connection and a warm place to turn.
