This learned Black women in NYC’s workforce earn 1.9% less in salary compared to white male counterparts.
Pay inequity creates obstacles to upward mobility that makes Black families more likely to endure significantly greater financial burdens, and suffer other forms of hardship.
It’s not enough to acknowledge these disparities. We must summon the political will to reconcile with our past timidity in addressing them, then work to expose the root causes, and drive them out for good.
