GM1 Jordan Vanderlely, assigned to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, had the unique opportunity to sit down for lunch with Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle during his first trip to the Pacific Northwest since becoming CNO.

Following lunch, Vanderlely attended an All Hands Call with more than 500 Sailors where Adm. Caudle spoke directly about the Navy’s priorities, warfighting readiness, and the critical role Whidbey Island plays in our nation’s defense.

Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John Perryman was also in attendance, underscoring the Navy’s commitment to listening to Sailors and staying connected to the fleet.

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John Perryman visited VP-40 Fighting Marlins (Official), Electronic Attack Squadron 131 Lancers and TUSC-PAC, engaging with the Sailors who serve as the foundry of our Navy’s operational readiness. By touring workspaces and observing the advanced capabilities of the EA-18G Growler and P-8A Poseidon alongside TUSC-PAC’s surveillance operations, CNO and MCPON saw firsthand how these units sharpen the fleet for high-end competition.

This Memorial Day, Adm. Daryl Caudle, Chief of Naval Operations, honors the Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our Nation — Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and Guardians. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to duty forged the legacy carried forward by every branch of our Armed Forces. Across generations, those who wore the cloth of our Nation stood watch in times of peace and fought with resolve in times of war. Many never came home. For nearly 250 years, the U.S. Navy has defended our homeland, safeguarded our way of life, and secured freedom at sea through toughness, tenacity, and combat readiness. That sacred responsibility is built on the sacrifice of our fallen heroes and the enduring strength of the families who carry their legacy. As we remember those who gave their lives in defense of our Nation, we recommit ourselves to remaining ready, lethal, and prepared to fight — and win — whenever and wherever America calls.

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle extends his warmest congratulations to the more than 1,000 midshipmen of the U.S. Naval Academy Class of 2026 on their hard-earned commissioning. As these new officers prepare to lead, CNO reminds them that their future decisions and the Sailors they command will "shape the fabric of our naval forces for another 250 years." The CNO is incredibly proud of their commitment and offers a resounding Bravo Zulu to the newest Ensigns and Second Lieutenants!

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle administered the oath of commission to the Class of 2026 at the U.S. Naval Academy as they become the newest officers in the world’s finest Navy. CNO expressed his immense pride in these young officers, whose service and leadership will be guiding our Navy into the future.
