It's with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Mrs. Kelly, retired BLA principal. Her presence in the halls brightened even the darkest of days, a mother to us all, an educator for life. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Fred Kelly, her daughter and her granddaughter. We do not have any word of services at this moment but we ask for your kind words and sympathies to be said here as her family lives through this unexpected tragedy.

It’s with great and profound saddness that we announce the passing of John Hazel, class of 2001. If you knew him, you knew he had the biggest, most contagious smiles. He was full of life every day from the classroom to the sports he played. He is survived by his large family, his wife and children. May his memory be for a blessing.

With sadness we announce the passing of Marta Escobar, class of 2001. With her family's permission, we are told her funeral will be held tomorrow 3pm-9pm at the Ortiz funeral home on Fordham and grand concourse. We miss her dearly and may her memory be for a blessing.

The Bronx Leadership Academy Alumni Association is seeking all alumni of the high school that would like to actively participate in planning, executing,and/or just come and enjoy a time with your old classmates. With gathering this general information, we hope to create a stronger bond among the alumni of the institution regardless of distance while continuously supporting the students that are currently attending with the experiences and expertise acquired throughout the years.
