The Consulate General of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in New York is proud to celebrate Trinidad and Tobago born Genelle Guzman-McMillan, whose extraordinary story will be featured in the upcoming Lifetime television special, Angel in the Rubble: The Genelle Guzman Story.

Genelle holds a remarkable place in the history of September 11, 2001, as the last survivor rescued alive from the rubble of the World Trade Center, after being trapped for approximately 27 hours.

Acting Consul General , Mary A. Tang Yew and representatives of the Consulate General of Trinidad and Tobago in New York was honored to participate in the annual VIP Breakfast hosted by the West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA), as part of the 2026 Labor Day Carnival celebrations in Brooklyn.

The occasion provided another valuable opportunity to engage with members of the Caribbean Consular Corps, elected and public officials, community and business leaders, and members of our wider Caribbean diaspora.

The Consulate General extends special thanks to Mr. Roger Archibald of WIADCA, Mr. and Mrs. Luke of Sesame Flyers International Inc., Ms. Karen Chambers of the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office and Dr. Sanjay Ramdath, Vice President for Enrollment Management at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), among the many friends and partners of the Consulate who joined the Labor Day events.
