On June 25th, 2025, Master Gunnery Sergeant MGySgt Pearse Gerard Kearns was called to guard the streets of heaven. Pearse was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 29, 1966 to the late Brendan and Ann Elizabeth Kearns Geagan. The son of Irish immigrants, he was a first generation American who

It is with deep regret that the UFA announces the passing of retired Captain Frederick S. Simms, Ladder 58. Captain Simms was appointed on July 15, 2001, and retired on May 26, 2023. He passed away on June 12, 2025.

Captain Simms bravely served the Department, protecting life and property in New York City, including his heroic role in the rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center (Manhattan Box 5-5-8087).

The heartfelt sympathy of the entire Department is extended to his family, relatives, and friends during this profound loss.
