Nancy has been with the Sheltering Arms Preventive team since 2010. During the
pandemic, Nancy remained committed to the families we serve despite the many challenges during that time. She demonstrates resilience and will go above and beyond to help our families and her peers in any way she can. Nancy is a team player and strong advocate who does everything with a smile. Our Rock Safe Streets team kicked off the month by bringing the Far Rockaway community together for their annual Beach Fest event. Thank you to Rock Safe Streets for their year-round work and dedication to ending gun violence and bringing peace to the Far Rockaway peninsula!

Congratulations to our after school students from Far Rockaway who competed in the 2022 Mets Math Hits Tournament! The event built on students' love of baseball to broaden their math and STEM-related skills. Two Sheltering Arms teams were top finishers winning more than $1,000 in gift cards and all involved had a great time.

Thanks to the New York Mets, Learn Fresh, and Berdon LLP for hosting a fun and educational event!

We hosted Mayor Eric Adams and many of NYC's leaders at our Jamaica drop-in center today as they announced the city's plan to end youth homelessness by investing in critical supports and services like the ones we provide at Sheltering Arms. The city's homeless youth population is often unseen and unheard. Providing these much needed programs puts them on a path to stability in adulthood.

The team from our 3rd Ave Early Childhood Education site joined the NYPD 48 Precinct at National Night Out in the Bronx to meet the community and share all of the ways we support the families enrolled in our child care programs.
