CASA NYC

CASA NYC CASA provides one-on-one advocacy to help children and youth in New York City foster care grow up in safe, permanent and loving homes where they can thrive.

CASA-NYC plays a crucial role in assisting New York’s overburdened Family Court system meet the needs of the city’s most vulnerable population. For many abused children, a dedicated CASA-NYC advocate may be the one constant presence in their lives—perhaps even the only adult who cares for them.

It was wonderful to see so many of our advocates at this year’s Volunteer Appreciation Event! 🫶

We love getting together to celebrate the dedication and care our volunteers and community partners bring to CASA-NYC every day.

While we can only spotlight a handful of photographs and individuals from the night, we are profoundly grateful to every CASA who dedicates their time and energy to supporting children and families across New York City! 💙

A special thank you to Apogem Capital for generously providing gift bags for this year’s event! We are deeply grateful for the thoughtfulness and care that the Apogem team dedicated to assembling these gifts for CASA-NYC volunteers. Thank you to Megan and Katrina for coordinating this partnership, to Otto and Gabe for joining us at the event, and to every Apogem team member who helped assemble these gift bags, which helped us express our appreciation for our volunteers and the incredible work they do!!

This month, we’re recognizing the 300+ CASA-NYC volunteer advocates who show up consistently, thoughtfully, often behind the scenes, for children and families navigating the child welfare system.

They’re the ones reading case files late at night, attending school meetings and court hearings, checking in on older youth living independently for the first time, asking the extra question when something doesn’t add up. CASA volunteers build trust over time. They piece together the full picture. They make sure a child’s needs never get lost in the process.

Every CASA volunteer carries only 1-2 cases by design, so they can offer the kind of steady, individualized support this work requires. It’s careful, it’s thoughtful, and it makes a difference in the lives of more than 1,100 children and youth every year.

To all our volunteers, thank you for bringing your time and your hearts to this work. We celebrate you this month and always! 💙

CASA-NYC congratulates Rebecca Jones Gaston on her appointment as Commissioner of the NYC Administration for Children’s Services.

From CASA-NYC CEO Kerry Moles:

“We are hopeful that Commissioner Jones Gaston's lived and professional experience, demonstrated commitment to supporting families, and track record of reducing the number of children in foster care, will make her the right person to lead ACS at this pivotal time. In 2025, CASA-NYC was able to prevent the trauma of unnecessary family separation in 97% of cases appointed by judges with the goal of family preservation. We look forward to working with the new administration and parent, family, and child advocates to continue to strengthen support for NYC’s children, youth, and families.”

As we close out 2025, we want to thank you for being an important part of the CASA-NYC family. 💙

If you have not yet taken advantage of our dollar-for-dollar match, there is still time to donate now and DOUBLE your impact! Link in bio 🔗

Because of you, more than 1,100 children and young people found an advocate in a CASA volunteer–someone who stood by their side, helped navigate challenges, and brought hope for a safer, more stable future.

Yet, there are so many stories of children falling through the cracks of the system or facing the risk of foster care placement, an experience that can often be prevented with the early, compassionate support that CASA provides.

Help CASA-NYC enter 2026 stronger than ever by making a year-end gift that can help ensure more children and families receive the advocacy and support they need to thrive. (And we can’t mention it enough: donations received through the end of the day on 12/31 will be matched 100%!)

Thank you for believing in the power of advocacy. Together, we are creating lasting change for NYC’s most vulnerable children and youth.

Wishing you a joyful and hopeful new year.

What a night! We’re still smiling from our CASA-NYC Holiday Party on December 5 at The Center in NYC. 😄 ☃️

It was one of those evenings that reminded us how very lucky we are to be surrounded by such a generous, committed, and joyful community.

Thank you to our friends at Warner Bros. Discovery, Permira, Scholastic, Calm & Caitlin Brady, Lori Newman Schwartz, Rachel & Chris Senio, Michelle Fisher, PhotoSafe and For Goodness Cakes for supporting the celebration and filling the evening with gifts, treats and warm holiday cheer!

Huge thanks to Daniel Olenick, Sean & Tim for setting the festive winter mood with a wonderful music performance, and to Mr. Chris for a guided dance-along that energized our kids and brought a smile to everyone’s face. Thank you to our incredible volunteer advocates, staff, Associate Board, and Executive Board members who helped make the night run smoothly and filled the room with warmth. There were so many familiar faces, and new ones! We’re so grateful.

To everyone who helped make the evening special, thank you. The New York City Marathon is ONE WEEK away! Meet Team CASA-NYC! 🏃‍♀️🥇

This year, Taryn, Cambrie, Rachel, and John are taking on the TCS NYC Marathon (26.2 miles across all five boroughs) in support of CASA-NYC’s work with children, youth, and families in the foster care system (which also crosses all five boroughs).

Each of these athletes has their own story and their own reason for running, but they share one thing in common: A deep belief that every child deserves stability, advocacy, and a chance to thrive.

We’re SO grateful to have these four runners representing CASA-NYC on race day. Want to support the team? Visit our link in bio to find out how! 💙🧡
