Time to dust off your felt hats! Historically, September 15th was the day that fashionable folks would transition from their summer straw hat to their felt hat, marking the end of summer and preparing for the chill of the seasons to come.

Visit us on Old Home Day, October 17th, where our historical interpreters will be ready to welcome you with a tip of their felt hat.

Hosted by the curator and advisors to our newest exhibition, Founding Principles: The Declaration of Independence, Civics, and Staten Island, we will explore local political history and objects from the collection to examine the power of government at the individual, local, state, and national levels.
