HUDSON TUNNEL PROJECT BOATER SAFETY ALERT

WHAT: Temporary Sampling Activities
WHERE: Hudson River within the Hudson Tunnel Project USCG Safety Zone
WHEN: June 8 through June 12, 2026, 7AM – 5PM

In early June, Aqua Survey, Inc., will be conducting sediment sampling within the Hudson Tunnel Project USCG Safety Zone on behalf of the Hudson Tunnel Project. Additionally, Normandeau Associates, Inc., will be taking river‑bottom sediment samples to assess the small organisms that live in the substrate, and will also collect bottom‑fish samples via trawl in the same area. As part of these operations, R/V Prattis or R/V Tesla and Privateer 2 (P2) will be on scene from 7AM to 5PM and will monitor VHF-FM Channels 13/16.

As of May 1, 2026, the USCG established a safety zone around Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP) construction operations in the Hudson River. No vessels, except for vessels involved in the construction activities associated with the HTP, are allowed to enter into, transit through, or anchor within the safety zone unless specifically authorized by the Captain of the Port. All mariners shall transit to the west of the safety zone and are reminded that special attention should be paid to potential damage caused by their own wake.

For more information, please reference the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Local Notice to Mariners.
