👏We applaud the dedicated work of our UNWLA, Branch 120, Rochester, NY in preserving and sharing one of Ukraine’s most cherished cultural traditions—the Motanka doll.

More than a work of folk art, the Motanka is an ancient Ukrainian oberih (protective talisman), carrying generations of history, symbolism, and spiritual heritage. By teaching this tradition to children, young people, and friends of Ukraine from all backgrounds, our members are helping ensure that these deep cultural roots continue to flourish for generations to come.

Cultural transmission is among the most important work we do. Through workshops like these, Ukrainian traditions are not only preserved—they are lived, shared, and passed forward.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this beautiful event possible. 💙💛

In honor of Pride Month, the UNWLA Book Club invites you to read and discuss "Q***r Ukraine" together with moderators and hosts Irena Chalupa, Anna Petelina and guest speaker Andrew Rimby, a literary scholar who specializes in q***r 19th-century American and British literature and is a part-time professor at three New Jersey universities: Seton Hall, Kean, and Montclair.

This anthology brings together the voices of Ukraine's LGBTQ+ community in the wake of Russia's full-scale invasion. Through poetry, essays, diary entries, and personal testimonies, readers encounter the experiences of q***r soldiers on the front lines, volunteers, activists, and those displaced by war.

At its heart, this collection reveals another vibrant and important dimension of Ukraine. It reminds us that Ukraine is fighting not only for its territory, but also for the right to exist as a free, democratic, and diverse society where every voice matters.

In the early hours of June 15th, Russia launched one of the largest aerial attacks, firing 70 missiles and 611 drones at the Ukrainian people.

Among the targets were homes, civilian infrastructure, and some of Ukraine's most treasured cultural and religious landmarks. The attack damaged the UNESCO-listed Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, including the historic Dormition Cathedral, as well as Kyiv's national film studio and the Art Arsenal museum.

This was an attack on people, faith, history, and culture.

As Ukrainians mourn the victims and begin rebuilding once again, we call on the international community to hold Russia accountable for its ongoing destruction of civilian life and cultural heritage.

💙 Natalie Pawlenko, President of the Ukrainian National Women's League of America (UNWLA), was honored to participate in Lviv Academic Bridge 2026: Ukraine–U.S. Science & Education Forum, joining leaders from academic, scientific, educational, and civic organizations working to strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and the United States.

💛 Representing UNWLA, she highlighted the organization's century-long commitment to investing in people through education, scholarships, cultural institutions, leadership development, and civic engagement. Since 1967, UNWLA has awarded more than 23,000 scholarships to students in 17 countries, reflecting its enduring belief that education is one of the most powerful investments in Ukraine's future.

The UNWLA has launched an emergency campaign to supply so much needed Wound Vac kits to trauma centers in Dnipro, Kyiv, Volyn, and Zhytomyr.

📙 Голова Союзу Українок Америки (СУА) Наталія Павленко взяла участь у двох знакових заходах, присвячених ролі жінок у дипломатії та суспільному лідерстві: презентації книги «Жінка в офіційній і публічній дипломатії. Нариси, спогади, інтерв’ю» в Міжнародному інституті освіти, культури та зв’язків з діаспорою Національного університету «Львівська політехніка» (МІОК) та публічній дискусії «Велика розмова про жінок у дипломатії», що відбулася в Дипломатичній академії України імені Геннадія Удовенка при МЗС України.

📙 Для пані Павленко стало великою честю не лише долучитися до видання як авторка одного з нарисів, але й бути серед видатних українок, чиї історії та досвід увійшли до книги, що висвітлює внесок жінок у розвиток дипломатії, міжнародної адвокації та громадського лідерства України у світі.

📙 Виступаючи онлайн перед учасниками обох заходів, вона поділилася роздумами про роль української діаспори та жіночих організацій у збереженні української ідентичності та формуванні міжнародної підтримки України. Зокрема, вона наголосила:

«Я бачу себе людиною, від якої життя вимагає служіння — служіння пам’яті моїх предків, жінкам, які прийшли перед нами і будували українське життя далеко від рідної землі, і, найголовніше, — служіння моїй улюбленій Україні.»

📙 Союз Українок Америки висловлює щиру вдячність професорці Ірині Матяш — авторці та упорядниці книги, а також організаторам і партнерам обох заходів за їхню відданість справі збереження та популяризації історій жінок, які творять українську дипломатію.

📙 Організація також вдячна за високу оцінку діяльності Союзу Українок Америки та визнання важливої ролі українських жіночих організацій діаспори у зміцненні міжнародної підтримки України.

📘UNWLA President , whose essay is included in the newly published volume Women in Official and Public Diplomacy, participated virtually in two major Ukrainian events dedicated to women in diplomacy: the presentation of the book Women in Official and Public Diplomacy at Lviv Polytechnic’s International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations and the public forum The Big Conversation on Women in Diplomacy at the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine.

📘In her remarks, Pawlenko reflected on the role of the Ukrainian diaspora, women’s leadership, and the century-long contribution of the Ukrainian National Women's League of America in strengthening Ukraine’s voice in the USA and building international support for Ukraine. She also expressed gratitude for the recognition of UNWLA’s longstanding role in public diplomacy and advocacy.

House passed the Ukraine Support Act, H.R. 2913, yesterday by a vote of 226–195. This critically important legislation will now move to the Senate.

Yesterday’s result would not have been possible without strong support from within Congress, the overwhelming majority of Americans who continue to stand with Ukraine, and the tireless advocacy of UNWLA members, the broader Ukrainian American community, and Ukraine’s allies who contacted their elected officials in support of this legislation.

Let us continue standing together for Ukraine, for the United States, and for the democratic values we all share.
