SUBJECT: CCO Joseph Schlosser

It is with deep sadness that I advise you of the passing of Coordination Center Officer Joseph Schlosser, age 59, of East Elmhurst, NY, last evening while hospitalized after a short illness.

Joe joined the TSA on August 8, 2004 and served his entire career at LGA. Joe was a mainstay on the overnight shift in the Coordination Center for most of his career. Joe was always a loyal and dependable officer who was thorough, professional and a good teammate to all. His focus was always on the wellbeing of our officers and keeping our leaders informed. Throughout his career, Joe was extremely proud of his TSA service and committed to the TSA mission at all times. Joe liked to point out that he had a nice commute to work every day; a short walk from his home on 78th Street to the Coordination Center in the Bulova Corporate Center.

Joe is survived his wife, Josienne Schlosser. The funeral arrangements are pending. We will send all funeral details in a follow-up broadcast when the arrangements are finalized.

I want to thank Helwa Sanchez, Peter Miller and Ralph Ramos for their continuous contact with Josienne Schlosser throughout Joe’s illness. Peter and the HR team will continue to work with Josienne to provide her support and to liaison with TSA-HQ Human Capital to facilitate all benefits and assistance.

Our condolences to Josienne and the Schlosser family.

Regards,

Bob Duffy

TSA WORKFORCE,

In preparation for the potential of onward travel from Afghanistan citizens, there may be a need for TSA employees that speak either Dari or Pashtu.

Anyone interested in supporting the extraction of AMCITs and Afghan refugees from Afghanistan who is in possession of a current U.S. Passport, are vaccinated against COVID-19, AND are fluent in Dari or Pashtu, please email your name to FSD Duffy and DFSD McKeon as soon as possible. TSA personnel that are fluent in Dari and Pashtu are needed to deploy to staging bases in Europe and the Middle East to help process personnel relocating from Kabul.
