East of the Sun, West of the Moon

East of the Sun, West of the Moon We Open August 4th 2011 East of the Sun, West of the Moon is an interactive fairy tale that will be running in Central Park this summer.

It is the story of Reina, a young woman who encounters all sorts of adventures when she sets off on a journey to save the man she loves. The Show runs the 4th-6th and 11th-13th with shows at 2pm on weekdays and 1pm on weekends

Inspired by the work of Punchdrunk (and with the help of one of Punchdrunk's prop masters), we are creating a world that will allow the audience to follow the characters t

hey are interested in as they have their own adventures. The story will repeat, so you can create a new experience for yourself every time you watch. We have received permits to perform at Pilgrim Hill in Central Park in August, and we will be transforming the hillside and surrounding areas into a magical kingdom using sets, costumes and props. When not engaged in the main narrative, the characters will take on a life of their own with songs, games and dances to get children involved in the story. "Behind the Badge is about the Cop Kid experience. It focuses on two contrasting father son relationships and how the job has inevitably crept it's way into each. The stories in the piece are based on the tales heard at the dinner table, during fights, at family parties, and with friends. They are staged with the same flare for storytelling and simplicity with which they were told. At it’s core Behind the Badge is looking to find the humanity inside men who are asked to put humanity on hold."

To call into question who we are to each other in the social environment of the theater, to undo the knots that lead to misery, to spread ourselves across the public's table like platters at a banquet, to set ourselves in motion like a vortex that pulls the spectator into action, to fire the body's ...
