One call in the morning.
Wheels up that evening.

A patient in Israel needed to get back to the United States for continued care — quickly, safely, and without the complexity becoming overwhelming for the family.

She made many calls, but no one was willing to help her.

Then she called VitalOne® 1-800-MedEvac.

By that same evening, the patient was en route with Critical Care Paramedic on an Israel Airlines Boeing Dreamliner Business Class to Miami, followed by an American Airlines Boeing 777-200ER aircraft connection onward to Dallas, Texas.

Catering on EL AL Israel Airlines then followed by Bagel Boys Miami breakfast.

Just the right logistics, the right airline partnerships, and a team that knows how to move fast when families need answers.

From coordinating international routing to ensuring a smooth medical travel plan across multiple carriers and destinations, VitalOne® 1-800-MedEvac helps patients get where they need to be — without unnecessary delays or unnecessary costs.

Thank you Hatzalah of Israel for ground support.

VitalOne® 1-800-MedEvac insurance advocacy is working tirelessly to ensure this will be covered by her insurance BCBS Global Solutions.

One call handles it all.

What started as a dream safari in Africa became a fight for survival within seconds.

An American tourist was Honeymoon with his wife Anna C. McKee… When he was suddenly violently attacked by a hippopotamus in remote Botswana — suffering devastating injuries and stranded far from advanced trauma care.

VitalOne® 1-800-MedEvac was activated for an urgent extraction mission.

From coordinating a helicopter evacuation out of the bush… to arranging critical care transport into Johannesburg… every moment became a race against time.

Thanks to the extraordinary team at Netcare Milpark Hospital, Africa’s leading Level 1 Trauma Center, and the expertise of Dr. Reuven Jacks and the trauma staff, the patient received the lifesaving care needed against overwhelming odds.

Despite the severity of the attack, the patient survived — and ultimately made a remarkable recovery.

Shout out to U.S. Department of State

Stories like this are a reminder that emergency medical transport is about far more than airplanes. It’s about precision, relationships, rapid decision-making, and having the right people answer the phone when everything is on the line.

One call can change everything.

On 5/13, Cincinnati celebrates 513 Day.

But for some families… 513 means something far greater. It means hope. It means answers. It means Children’s.

Meet little Gabriel.

Born in February 2020, his parents Coane & Daniel Coane knew from the very beginning something wasn’t right with his breathing. Yet after hearing “everything looks normal” from more than ten specialists, they began questioning their own instincts.

Then, in October 2020, what should have been a simple cold landed Gabriel in the PICU… and changed everything. Hospitalizations became almost monthly. Questions kept piling up. Fear became routine.

Then came one referral—to Dr. Michael Rutter at Cincinnati Children’s.

Within 24 hours, his team said these words:

“We agree. Something is wrong. Come to Cincinnati.”

From that moment onward, VitalOne® 1-800-MedEvac became an integral part of Gabriel’s care team, consistently present during times when it was unclear whether local care would suffice or when a transfer to higher level of care became necessary.

And what makes this story even more remarkable…

The family had some of Florida’s top pediatric hospitals practically in their backyard— Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Nicklaus Children’s Health System, and Holtz Children’s Hospital. Even UF Health was within reach—though nearly a five-hour drive.

And yet…

For the next 4½ years, Gabriel’s family traveled back and forth for surgeries, clinic visits, and life-changing treatment.

Then in August 2025… they made a decision that says everything about the level of care they found here.

They moved their entire family to Cincinnati.

Imagine the difference between starting your car in 88 degree Miami Florida. versus -9 degree Cincinnati, Ohio

But they did it.
For their son. For answers.
For Cincinnati Children’s & Dr. Michael Rutter. For the top medical care in the world.

At VitalOne® 1-800-MedEvac, we transport patients to centers of excellence every single day.

But every once in a while, you witness a hospital so extraordinary… a family doesn’t just travel there for care.

They move there.

Federal Agent Assaulted Overseas — and the Race to Save His Life

Part 2: Miami to JFK

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection Watch Commander was viciously assaulted in Barbados, suffering a devastating traumatic brain injury.

This was not just another transport mission.

This was life or death.
Time was against us.

An international critical care evacuation was rapidly initiated to Jackson Health System — one of the nation’s premier Level 1 Trauma centers.

With a body temperature reaching 107⁰F and the patient’s neurological condition deteriorating, the reality was clear:

He needed advanced neurotrauma care immediately.

After 25 days of stabilization in Miami, the family requested a transfer to NYC, closer to home.

Hospital after hospital declined the family’s request.

Once again, VitalOne® 1-800-MedEvac was called to action.

“Hi, This is VitalOne® 1-800-MedEvac. We have a federal agent...”

On the phone was Dr. J Mocco at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital /Weill Cornell Medicine through 1-800-NYP-STAT.

The answer came back:

“Accepted.”

Special thanks to Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosanna Cordero-Stutz and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office for the Florida es**rt coordination.

Additional thanks to Hatzalah South Florida for assisting with transport operations to Opa-locka Airport.

Upon arrival at JFK, an incredible line of support awaited him...
