Washington Heights & Inwood Youth Service Providers Collective (WHIYSPC)

Washington Heights & Inwood Youth Service Providers Collective (WHIYSPC) WHIYSPC In June 2010, about a dozen diverse community-based organizations formed the Washington Heights-Inwood Youth Service Providers Collective (WHIYSP).

Committed to enhancing collaboration to support the health and development of local youth and their families, WHIYSP gathers monthly to inform the group of respective programs and services, to promote resource-sharing, to discuss neighborhood issues effecting youth, and to explore joint solutions. The idea of taking collective walks around the neighborhood emerged from one such discussion. So far,

WHIYSP has explored four sections of Washington Heights and Inwood, taking the time to tell stories about cultural sites and to investigate community resources for youth. Our practice involves introducing ourselves at each health, education, and community development organization we encounter, inquiring into the organizations’ missions and functions, and inviting new organizations to join our Collective. In this way, WHIYSP actively aligns, strengthens, and promotes the network of youth-serving organizations and schools that benefit Washington Heights and Inwood.
