Taipei Cultural Center in New York Our aim is to to introduce Taiwan's arts and culture to a broader audience throughout North America.

The Taipei Cultural Center in New York (TCC), which was established as the first overseas office of Taiwan's Ministry of Culture in 1991, builds connections through arts and culture in New York and throughout North America. Each year, we reach out to art museums, theaters, performing arts centers, film cinemas, festivals, curators, and presenters in the US and Canada.

On September 10, percussionists Ju Tzong-Ching and Chris Hanning come together in New York for a conversation that moves across sound, culture, and performance.

Through dialogue and live demonstration, they’ll explore how rhythm, movement, and musical traditions can create connections beyond words and what happens when different cultural perspectives meet through percussion.

從不同文化裡的節奏與聲音出發，四位打擊樂家將透過對談與現場示範，分享音樂如何跨越語言，在不同文化之間找到彼此理解的方式。

New York is a little crazy. Melody likes it that way.🗽

After 12 years in the city, the motion designer and DJ has learned that New York has a way of making room for the wildest ideas and the people willing to chase them.🎧🎶🎵

DJing taught her to trust that instinct. You can have a plan, but once you’re in the room, you have to listen, read the crowd, and follow the energy.

The city works the same way.🗽

For Melody, New York has always been about trusting herself, trying things out, and not overthinking what comes next.❤️

Most of the things you’re afraid of probably won’t happen anyway. So just go for it.💪❤️🗽

在紐約生活 12 年，身為動態設計師，同時也是一名 DJ，她看過很多天馬行空的想法，在這座城市慢慢成真。

「這裡包容每一種瘋。」

對 Melody 來說，DJ 也有點像紐約。
你沒辦法把一切都照著計畫走，只能感受現場、相信直覺，再把能量丟給觀眾，看他們怎麼回應。

紐約教會她相信自己，也讓她更敢去玩、去試那些瘋狂的想法。

「不要想太多，就做。很多時候你害怕的事情，99% 都不會發生。」

徐振輔的小說《馴羊記》曾獲第21屆臺北文學年金獎，是本非常值得一讀的優秀作品，小說有兩條不同時空的故事主線，融合西藏風土博物誌、遊記與抒情文學。

英譯本 What’s a Snow Leopard to You? 即將於9月22日發行！由知名譯者 Howard Goldblatt（葛浩文） 與 Sylvia Li-chun Lin（林麗君） 共同翻譯。

紐文中心很榮幸邀請作者徐振輔來到紐約，與讀者分享作品及創作，並參與三場精彩活動，其中更獲邀參與紐約市規模最大的文學活動—布魯克林圖書節（Brooklyn Book Festival）。

📚 "What's a Snow Leopard to You?," written by Chen-Fu Hsu and translated by Howard Goldblatt & Sylvia Li-chun Lin, will be released on 9/22.

朱宗慶將與國際打擊樂藝術協會前會長、美國西切斯特大學威爾斯音樂學院打擊樂教授和院長克里斯．漢寧（Chris Hanning）對談，由朱宗慶打擊樂團資深團員黃堃儼主持，並邀請美國西北大學打擊樂學程主任暨曼哈頓音樂學院顧問吳欣怡擔任特別來賓。

這也是紐文中心35周年系列藝文講座的最後一場，集結臺美打擊樂界的重要人物，並與曼哈頓音樂學院(Manhattan School of Music)合作。

Ju Tzong-Ching, founder of Ju Percussion Group, will be joined by Chris Hanning, former President of the Percussive Arts Society and Dean of the Wells School of Music at West Chester University, in a conversation moderated by Ju Percussion Group senior member Kuen-Yean Hwang. She-e Wu will also join the conversation as a special guest.

This will be the final arts talk in our 35th Anniversary program, bringing together two leading voices in the world of percussion, in collaboration with Manhattan School of Music.

🌊We’re still thinking about the rain🌧️, the music🤘, and everyone singing along with us that day🎤. 🌊

🌊🤘For Taiwanese Waves’ 10th anniversary🤘🌊, we spent a rainy summer afternoon in Central Park surrounded by incredible music and even better energy.

From a new generation of Taiwanese sounds to familiar classics, when “緣難了，情難了…” came on in the middle of New York, the crowd sang, danced, and didn’t let the rain get in the way of a good time.

One of our favorite parts? Hearing people in the crowd talk about how much they loved the music and how many different sides of Taiwan’s music scene they got to discover that day.

Ten years in, and the Waves are still going strong. 🌊

Thank you to everyone who danced in the rain, sang along, and celebrated with us.

🌊🌊Taiwanese Waves 十週年🌊🌊，在 Central Park 和大家一起度過了一個下雨、但非常熱鬧的夏日午後。

不同世代、不同風格的臺灣音樂輪番上場，到熟悉的「緣難了，情難了……」在紐約響起，台下有人跟著唱、有人跟著跳，即便下雨也完全沒有影響大家享受音樂的心情。

最開心的是聽見現場的觀眾說，他們喜歡臺灣的音樂，也看見臺灣音樂好多不同的樣子。

Three years in New York, and May is still pushing forward.🗽

Life here can look effortless from the outside, but everyone is working hard behind the scenes.

May's fitness journey started with wanting to get smaller. Along the way, she learned to eat better, train smarter, and focus less on being thin and more on getting strong.💪💪💪

And that shift changed more than her body.

New York taught her to stay humble, dream bigger, and keep going.

Every choice brings you closer to a version of yourself you never imagined. 💪🗽

「闖。」

這是 May 心中的紐約。

來紐約三年，她看到這座城市光鮮亮麗的一面，也更知道，每個看起來過得很好的人，背後其實都在努力打拼。

健身也是一樣。

曾經為了變瘦而極端控制飲食，直到失去肌肉，她才開始重新認識營養、飲食和重訓。

現在，比起變瘦，她更享受看著自己一步步變強壯，也喜歡看到越來越多女生找到自己的力量。

紐約讓她學會謙遜，也讓她更敢做夢。

「你做的每一個選擇，都會慢慢帶你成為一個從沒想像過的自己。」

That's how Taiwanese Waves🌊🌊 started in 2016, right here in New York.
What started as an idea became something real, Taiwanese music, artists, and performers, on New York stages.

Nearly a decade later, New York is still the place Mia keeps coming
back to. Central Park, her favorite spots, and the city that keeps
pushing her forward.

Her New York rule?

Just go for it.

And maybe make a few waves along the way. 🌊

勇敢，是 Mia 給紐約的形容詞。

對她來說，紐約是一個會讓人想放手去做的地方。

2016 年，也是在這座城市，她有了一個「做一件沒有人做過的事」的念頭，於是創辦 Taiwanese Waves，把來自台灣的音樂、舞蹈和創作者帶到紐約。

一路上有挑戰，也有很多第一次。

但十年過去，紐約依然是她回來一定會去 Central Park 走走的地方，也是讓她持續往前的城市。
