Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common respiratory virus that infects the nose, throat, and lungs. It's usually spread through droplets from an infected person's cough, sneeze, or kiss, or by touching surfaces with the virus and then touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.

RSV is most common in the fall and winter, usually peaking in December and January. It's so common that almost all children will have had it by their second birthday.

Symptoms of RSV include:
Cough
Short, shallow, and rapid breathing
Struggling to breathe
Poor feeding
Unusual tiredness (lethargy)
Irritability

a meteorologist and storm specialist for FOX Weather who reports on a variety of weather events, including hurricanes, tropical storms, and other major weather events:

Hurricane Helene
Seidel reported on how the Big Bend of Florida was bracing for the Category 4 storm's landfall near Perry. He also reported on the devastation Helene caused to North Carolina, including a brewery business, and the efforts to help victims.

Hurricane Francine
Seidel reported on the potential life-threatening impacts of the storm on the Gulf Coast from Lafayette, Louisiana.

Other weather events
Seidel has reported on numerous weather events, including snow and ice storms, tornado outbreaks, and nor'easters. He has also covered weather at sporting events like the World Series, the Indianapolis 500, and the MLB All-Star Game.

Seidel joined FOX Weather in August 2024 after spending over 30 years at The Weather Channel. He covered every major weather event during his time at The Weather Channel, including Hurricanes Katrina, Ian, Harvey, Irma, and Irene.
