There is something that has taken place with the consciousness of our african- american youth and young adults that, if left without interference, will result in a negative transformation into a culture of unconscious self-destruction. This is to say that our african-american youth and young adults are developing behaviors and beliefs that are counter to positive growth and development, and are more characteristic to diminishing maturation and underdevelopment. This phenomena represents itself in their manner of dress; their manner of dialogue and communication between themselves and others; their expression of immorality as opposed to moral standards and values; their disregard for life as witnessed by the mass amount of black-on-black killings; their under-representation in institutions of higher learning; and their over-representation in institutions of correctional confinement. Our youth and young adults are our HOPE for better futures and advancement as a people. They are supposed to represent the CONFIDENCE we can have in the POSSIBILITY of better futures and advancement as a people. It is, therefore, IMPERATIVE, that those who are capable of contributing to the positive and productive transformation of the consciousness of our youth and young adults (on whatever level), come together "by whatever means necessary" to address this dilemma that threatens our very existence as a people. KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!!!! For it will KEEP US ALIVE!!!!!
