We are part of a national movement that

came together in response to the FBI raids on seven homes and an anti-war office on Friday, September 24, 2010. These activists are involved in many groups, including the Twin Cities Anti-War Committee, the Palestine Solidarity Group, the Colombia Action Network, Students for a Democratic Society, and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization. These activists and many others came together to organize the 2008 anti-war marches during the Republican National Convention in St. Across the country organizations and individuals are standing together to protest the United States government’s attempt to silence and criminalize anti-war and international solidarity activists. We see the raids and subpoenas as an attack on anti-war and other progressive movements. It is an attack on our freedom to speak, our freedom to assemble with like-minded people, and our freedom to tell the government that their actions and policies are wrong. It is an attempt to clear the way for more wars and occupations of other countries by the U.S. We Demand:
¦Stop the repression of anti-war and international solidarity activists.
¦Immediately return all confiscated materials: computers, cell phones, papers, documents, etc.
¦End the grand jury proceedings against anti-war activists.

The first Holy Land trial ended in a hung jury, but a second one -- using secret witnesses who were never identified to the defense, hearsay evidence and a ‘shock video’ showing protesters in Palestine burning an American flag -- contributed to prejudicing the jurors. The result is that five men, who did nothing wrong, are suffering long sentences, between 15 and 65 years.

The lead prosecutor who used these dirty tricks in court is Barry Jonas. Assistant U.S. Attorney Barry Jonas is now in Chicago, conducting the ongoing investigation of 23 Midwest anti-war and international solidarity activists. Jonas is a pro-Israel ideologue, politically motivated and willing to trample on people’s rights.

Carlos Montes court hearing has been abruptly changed to June 5th, TUESDAY, at 8:30 AM, according to a call we got this afternoon from attorney Jorge Gonzalez.
(Some in the L.A. area got different info earlier; please disregard previous announcements. We apologize for any inconvenience.)
We are back in Judge Lomeli’s court, department 123. Please try to attend to support Carlos with court room solidarity. A new development will be heard on June 5th. We cannot reveal any more information, but we will have an open court public hearing on June 5th. Yes, the hearing is on Election Day and with less than 1 day notice, the courts are busy with the baseball assault case and other issues, so we really need your support.
