Per Capita Alcohol Consumption in Poland, 1992-2024.
Poland's alcohol mix has shifted dramatically since 1992: annual beer consumption more than doubled (2.1→4.7 liters of pure alcohol per capita), spirits fell sharply through the early 2000s before rebounding to near-1990s levels, while wine & mead remains a minor share, now below 1 liter of pure alcohol per capita.

Poland's Wine Production by Color, 2010–2025.
Poland's wine production expanded markedly between 2010 and 2024, rising from 0.04 to 2.87 million liters, before easing to 2.14 million liters in 2025. Most of this surge reflects the rise of white wine, whose production has grown disproportionately and now accounts for roughly two-thirds of Poland's total output, up from 44% in 2011.

New data from French customs show that France’s wine exports to the U.S. declined 15.9% in value in 2025, to €1.9 billion. The steepest percentage contractions were in Languedoc-Roussillon (-52.6%) and red Bordeaux (-32.1%). Note: this decline is due more to a drop in average prices than to a drop in volume—overall, prices fell 11.8% while volume fell 8%. In general, red wines show larger price declines than whites: red Languedoc-Roussillon (-24.3%) and red Bordeaux (-22.3%) stand out; only Alsace posted a price increase (+1.4%). It is unclear to what extent these price changes reflect a price decline due to tariffs or a compositional shift toward less expensive wines.

Salvador Dalí (Spain 1904-1989). Dalí was a skilled draftsman, best known for the striking and bizarre images in his surrealist work. He was also a great wine connoisseur, as can be seen in his book “The Wines of Gala,” a surrealist wine guide, originally published in 1978.
