Consul General Giuseppe Pastorelli met with Italian-American sailor Francesca Clapcich, Italian co-skipper A𝗟𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗧𝗢 𝗕𝗢𝗡A | 𝗩𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗧A 𝗢𝗖𝗘A𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗢, and the members of Team Francesca Clapcich powered by 11th Hour Racing at Brooklyn Bridge Marina.

The team is in New York ahead of The Ocean Race Atlantic, departing on September 1 for Lorient, France. Francesca, a two-time Olympian for Italy and the first Italian sailor to win The Ocean Race, will take on the transatlantic race alongside Alberto and the rest of the crew.

New York is also the final stop of the team’s Changemakers Tour, part of the Believe, Belong, Achieve campaign promoting ocean health, sustainability, and inclusion in sailing. During their time in the city, the team is collaborating with Bronx-based nonprofit , which uses sailing and boatbuilding to create opportunities for young people.

We wish Francesca, Alberto, and the entire team fair winds as they prepare to cross the Atlantic!

New York turns Azzurro 🇮🇹🎾

The US Open is back at Flushing Meadows, and Italian tennis is ready to take the court in New York.

From Lorenzo Musetti, Flavio Cobo, Luciano Darderi, Matteo Berrettini, Matteo Arnaldi and Mattia Bellucci in the men’s field to Jasmine Paolini, Lucia Bronzetti and in the women’s field, there’s plenty of Italian talent to cheer for.

Sara Errani and andreavavassori are also back in New York as defending Mixed Doubles champions, while several more Azzurri are competing in qualifying this week.

And while we’ll miss seeing Jannik Sinner on court in New York this year, we’re sending him our best wishes for a full recovery. We can’t wait to see you back here in NYC, Jannik! 🇮🇹

Italian science, connected in New York and the US 🇮🇹🇺🇸

Meet Riccardo Lattanzi - Professor of Radiology, Electrical and Biomedical Engineering at NYU - coordinator, together with Monica Fornier - Associate Professor at MSK Cancer Center - of the New York Chapter of ISSNAF.

With a community of nearly 4,000 Italian scientists and scholars across North America, creates connections, research collaborations, and bridges with Italy.

Each November, its Annual Meeting brings researchers from across the U.S. and Canada to the Embassy of Italy in Washington, D.C., for a day of scientific exchange and awards celebrating both young researchers and established careers.

Here in New York, the chapter creates opportunities to meet, collaborate, and share research with Italian and international audiences, often with the support of the Consulate General of Italy in New York and the Italian Embassy in Washington.

🇮🇹L’8 agosto si celebra la “Giornata nazionale del sacrificio del lavoro italiano nel mondo”, che coincide con la commemorazione dell’incidente minerario di Marcinelle, in Belgio, ove nel 1956, presso la miniera del Bois du Cazier, persero la vita 262 minatori, tra cui 136 italiani.
Per l’occasione, il Vice Presidente del Consiglio e Ministro degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale, On. Antonio Tajani, ha indirizzato un messaggio ai connazionali all’estero.

🇺🇸August 8 marks Italy’s National Day of Sacrifice of Italian Workers Around the World. The day coincides with the anniversary of the Marcinelle mining disaster in Belgium. On August 8, 1956, 262 miners lost their lives at the Bois du Cazier mine, including 136 Italian workers.
On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, addressed a message to Italians living abroad.
