Seward Park Branch Library

Seward Park Branch Library The Seward Park Branch Library is the branch of the New York Public Library that resides on the Lower East Side on East Broadway.

Currently all NYPL locations are closed to the public, but our digital services are still active! The Seward Park Branch opened its doors on November 11, 1909, and the building currently houses adult, reference, young adult and children’s collections on its ground and upper floors, and an Adult Literacy Center and community room on its lower level. The branch reopened in 2004 after restoration wor

k to its exterior and interior. In its early days, the Seward Park served a primarily immigrant Jewish population, but now serves a diverse population reflecting New York City’s ever-changing demographics.

Good morning, Seward Park Community!

Today's storytime outside the Seward Park Library is confirmed for 11:15am! It is best to arrive 15 minutes prior in order for everyone to settle in. We may end a little early today due to the heat.

As a reminder, we do not have access to the library building during this time, which includes restrooms.

Hello patient Seward Park Community!

We're delighted to tell you that the Seward Park branch will reopen on September 11!

The branch closed on April 24 to facilitate important improvements to the building, including replacing the branch’s flooring.

We look forward to seeing you next week!
