🕊On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, Consulate volunteers gave back to the community together with ones from JAANY (The Japanese American Association of New York).

🤝 At New York Common Pantry, we prepared hot meals for over 200 guests 🍽, and onboard the Intrepid Museum, packed meal kits with 9/11 Day. Thank you to the dedicated staff of New York Common Pantry and 9/11 Day for their efforts.

🗽 For the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Ambassador Katahira visited the Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania and Ground Zero in New York to honor the many victims, including Japanese citizens. He offered his deepest prayers for global peace and stability. We must never forget this tragedy and must continue to pass its memory on to future generations.

🦀Ambassador Katahira met with Governor Shinji Hirai of Tottori Prefecture during his visit to New York. The ambassador also joined the New York Tottori Kenjinkai (prefectural association) gathering and a Tottori tourism promotion event.🍐

【News Flash】WPI-IIIS Director/Professor Masashi Yanagisawa has been awarded the 2026 Lasker Award

September 9, The Lasker Foundation has announced that the 2026 Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research Award to Masashi Yanagisawa, Director and Professor of the International Institute for Integrative Sleep Medicine (WPI-IIIS), for “identification of orexin, a brain peptide that maintains wakefulness, and the discovery that orexin deficiency causes uncontrolled sleep in narcolepsy—revealing a key insight into the nature of sleep”.
