At IAC, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to participate in our elections and make their voice heard. Today, we’re asking our community to help spread the word.

Take a moment to check your voter registration, and then share this post with the people and organizations in your network who may benefit from the reminder.

Send it to a coworker. Share it with your staff. Pass it along to friends and family. Share it with a community partner, member agency, or another organization you work with. 📣

It’s Disability Voting Rights Week across New York! ️🗳️✨

Engage. Empower. Vote.

🗳️ What is it?
Part of the national REV UP movement, Disability Voting Rights Week (DVRW) is all about building political power, protecting accessible elections, and ensuring disabled New Yorkers have an equal say in the policies shaping our communities.

💡 Why are we celebrating?
Because the decisions made in Albany and locally regarding early childhood services, education, healthcare, employment, independent living, transit, and direct support funding are decided at the ballot box. Voting is not a privilege, and accessibility is a fundamental civil right.

👥 How many New Yorkers with disabilities are there?
Around 4 million adults across New York State (roughly 1 in 4) have a disability. We represent a massive, vital voting community across every borough and county, yet barriers to full access still exist.

📣 How can you take part this week?

1️⃣ Take action with IAC Votes: Check your registration status, find key election deadlines, and make your voice heard directly through our advocacy tool at iacny.quorum.us/campaign/VOTE.

2️⃣ Check your registration status: Verify your record through the New York State Board of Elections Voter Search Portal. Review accessible ballot marking devices, poll site accommodations, and voter assistance guides through NYC Votes.

3️⃣ Explore statewide accessible voting options: Review accessible voting guidelines and ballot options through the New York State Board of Elections.

4️⃣ Spread the word: Share these tools, talk with colleagues and families about civic participation, and follow the wider campaign via the AAPD REV UP Network.

The Great New York State Fair has expanded its accessibility offerings for 2026, ensuring a more inclusive experience for all guests. Highlights include:

- Accessible parking lots and an ADA shuttle tram
- Momentum Refresh — the first fully accessible, ADA-compliant+ mobile restroom and changing space in the U.S.
- On-demand ASL interpreter services
- Sensory-friendly hours, a calming sensory room, and an outdoor sensory area
- Scooter, wheelchair, stroller, and wagon rentals
- Accessible concert seating with companion seating options
