Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) offers FREE English language (ESOL) and career training programs designed to help you improve your English, develop valuable transferable skills, and gain job-specific training to boost your career opportunities.

All programs include job interview preparation and assistance with creating your CV/resume.

Please note: An intermediate to advanced level of English is required for all courses.
Participants must be 19 years or older and residents of New York City.

📅 Dates:

1. Thursday, August 14th, 2025 – 10:00am

Be prepared to stay 2/3 hours.

Hospitality Training + ESOL

Learn customer service skills and prepare for professional certifications from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute and the National Restaurant Association Solutions. This program covers:

Customer service
Hotel and restaurant modules
Certified Guest Service Professional
📅 Fall Cycle: August 5 – November 6, 2025
🗓 Schedule: Meets 3 times per week

Morning: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 10:00am – 2:00pm
OR

Evening: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 5:00pm – 9:00pm

A+ Certification Training + ESOL

Improve your English while learning computing, networking, hardware, and troubleshooting skills. Prepare for the CompTIA A+ certification. Some computer skills are required.

📅 Fall Cycle: August 18, 2025 – January 22, 2026
🗓 Schedule: Meets 3 times per week

Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, 9:30am – 4:30pm

Microsoft Office Suite Training + ESOL

Learn English while mastering Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Prepare for the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification. Some computer skills are required.

Tax Form 1040 is required.

📅 Fall Cycle: September 9, 2025 – February 5, 2026
🗓 Schedule: Meets 4 times per week

Morning: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 9:30am – 1:30pm
OR

Evening: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 6:00pm – 9:00pm

DACA recipients are now eligible for health coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare. This change went into effect on November 1st, 2024.

Here is a list of qualified immigration statuses that are eligible for health coverage under the ACA:

DACA recipients
Lawful permanent residents (green card holders)
Refugees
Asylees
Cuban Adjustment Act beneficiaries
Parolees with a grant of parole of at least 1 year
If someone is a DACA recipient or has one of the other qualified immigration statuses, they can now enroll in health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace. They may also be eligible for financial assistance to help pay for your premiums and out-of-pocket costs.
