On August 28, 16 ADAPT Self-Advocates attended the Annual Self Advocacy Association of New York State (SANYS) Conference, where ADAPT was honored with the Agency of the Year award for excellence in Self-Advocacy! 🎉

We’re also proud to celebrate Self-Advocacy Specialist Hans Anggraito, who was awarded the 2026 Self-Advocacy Advisor of the Year Award!

The Self-Advocacy Association of New York State is an organization founded and led by people with developmental disabilities for people with developmental disabilities. They promote the awareness and recognition of civil rights and responsibilities, which include opportunities and choices of equal citizenship.

Congratulations to Hans and to all our ADAPT Staff and Self-Advocates who helped make this award possible! ❤️

This summer, ADAPT welcomed our largest intern cohort ever! 55 high school and college students interned across 33 ADAPT locations, gaining real-world experience in Day Habilitation, Residential Services, Assistive Technology, Finance, Communications, and more. 🎉

Through incredible partnerships with CUNY Career Launch and the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), our interns made a meaningful impact while building skills and exploring careers.

We are so thankful to our talented interns who brought fresh perspectives, new ideas, and enthusiasm to their teams this summer. We’re excited to see where their journeys take them!✨

This summer, our Bronx and Staten Island Day Habilitation Programs volunteered their time to make a difference in their communities! 🤝

Throughout the week, volunteers participated in a variety of activities including an environmental cleanup in partnership with the Bronx Alliance, food pantry support through distribution and packaging, and assistance at the RISEBORO Inc. donation center.

The week concluded with a donation of tennis balls to Kings Harbor Physical Therapy to help support adaptive equipment needs. Thank you to all our volunteers for helping make a difference and demonstrating the power of community!
