Wishing our dear young friends Cesar, Angel and Marcos the very best of luck as they compete in the Youth America Grand Prix this weekend in Purchase, NY. Fundación Amistad has provided support to these identical triplets on their journey to become ballet dancers. They are currently studying on scholarship at the Rock School in Philadelphia. What an amazing transformation from toddlers in Trinidad, Cuba to the strong and graceful teenagers they are now in the US. Best wishes boys!

How wonderful, we need more storytellers in the world!

Cuba is world-renowned for its ci**rs. But there’s a deeper story behind their creation. As per a tradition that started in 1865, storytellers, or “lectores,...

We are a day late for Siblings Day but we couldn't resist sharing this story with you! It's the story of three boys-triplets-who saw a performance of The Nutcracker Ballet when they were four years old and proclaimed to their mother that they too wanted to be dancers. Marta, their mother enrolled the boys at the Ballet Nacional de Cuba and last month they graduated at the age of 18. Fundacion Amistad is proud to have played a role in their training, providing ballet clothes, shoes and even assisted in obtaining their summer semester with the New York City Ballet. Now we are excited to announce that all three young men, Angel, Cesar and Marcos have received one year scholarships to attend The Rock School of Dance Education in Philadelphia! We have worked with the school and the Cuban government to ensure their entry to the US and to The Rock School. Congratulations and happy belated Siblings Day to Angel, Cesar and Marcos!

We could not agree more! Although this study was conducted in the US, the benefits of attending preschool are equally, if not more, important in Cuba.

What happens when a group of the nation's leading pre-K experts get together to lay out a blueprint for what parents, and educators, can learn from decades of research?

Old McDonald has made it to Cuba! We were delighted to welcome Dr. Joseph Scarpaci along with professors and undergraduate students from Virginia Tech for a teaching and learning experience last month. It was hard to tell who had more fun and who taught who! Thank you Dr. Scarpaci!
