To all Black girls and gender-expansive survivors–you are not alone. We love you. We believe you. We see you.

1 in 4 young women experiences sexual assault before the age of 18. We marched on Denim Day because we stand in solidarity with survivors. Because youth deserve to experience bodily autonomy. Because it’s possible to end sexual violence and to make our communities safer.

As Sexual Assault Eradication Month closes, we share love letters written by members of the GGE community to support survivors in their healing journeys. You can also write your own survivor love letter and download the toolkit at survivorloveletter.com

“It is in collectivities that we find reservoirs of hope and optimism.” -Angela Y. Davis

On Volunteer Day, more than 25 volunteers joined us to show some love to survivors 💙. Together, we wrote Survivor Love Letters and assembled care packages for our young people.

Thank you to our volunteers for showing your hope, optimism, commitment and solidarity.

Thank you Brooklyn-based businesses , , .candy, , and for the generous donations that remind us how much our community cares!

On April 29, GGE will be amongst the millions worldwide that will wear jeans on purpose to amplify the importance of consent.

Join us for the 2026 Brooklyn Denim Day Rally–to advocate for normalizing consent, building safer communities and eradicating sexual violence.

Our young people designed posters and denim jackets to make a statement–that youth deserve to experience safety, comfort, and bodily autonomy.

We will meet at Brooklyn Borough Hall, march across the Brooklyn Bridge, and end at the David Dinkins municipal building.

*Breakfast will be served.

📚This World Book Day, we uplift Black girls and gender-expansive youth survivors. Books can be a powerful and affirming resource in supporting young people’s healing journey. They provide valuable perspectives and education, which are important tools in preventing sexual violence. Here are our recommendations for healing justice books with themes on survivorship justice and liberation.

💙Rest is Resistance by Tricia Hersey
💙Healing Justice Lineages by Cara Page and Erica Woodland
💙Emergent Strategy by adrienne maree brown
💙mourning my inner[blackgirl]child by reelaviolette botts-ward

🎧Do you have a personal anthem? Motivating songs provide a space to dream freely and design new realities. At GGE, we integrate music into our programming to support healing and inspire young people to transform their communities.

Our Sisters in Strength youth participants created a “Soundtrack for Justice,” featuring songs that support survivorship and activism. Take a listen, and hear how music can be a powerful and affirming form of protest to demand social change.

What songs would you add to the soundtrack?
