The Wuhan Cultural Center on the Yangtze riverside is like a delicately cut crystal. Not only a carrier of commercial and artistic life, but also a unique and recognizable cultural landmark of Wuhan in the future.

The light well connects the whole building vertically from top to bottom, creating a ‘courtyard of light’.

Each floor of the block has its own independent function, in the sales at the same time, salons, art exhibitions, cocktail parties and other multiple activities can also be held on each floor with high efficiency.

"More than Human Adventure" is the theme of the 2022 Shenzhen Biennale's "Urban Cosmologies" Exhibition. Studio Link-Arc is excited to explore the intersection of living organisms and architecture, using mycelium as inspiration. Our installation, made up of 400 hanging mushroom bricks, represents the collaboration between nature and man-made structures, and is a symbol of sustainability and adaptability.

The exhibition takes place in a converted old brewery, with gallery spaces between continuous concrete frame. The indoor-outdoor space provides an ideal place for mushroom bricks to absorb moisture from the air. In addition, a pool is created under the installation to provide a moist micro-climate. The mycelium will be deactivated in the manufacturing process. To compensate we selected some bricks to grow fresh mushrooms within after assembly. The hope is to make this installation part of the sustainable ecological cycle, a man-made device that grows and evolves as a living organism.

Using the language of construction, this installation explores relationships between architecture and an ecosystem that is mostly unknown. The aim is to dissolve boundary and create a symbiosis, a collaboration between both realms. The inverted-pyramid shape flips traditional views on its head, illustrating the existence of second natures, double functionality, duplicate purposes, man-made and nature, present and future, and finally growth and decay. A symbol that is also an anti-symbol.

Architecture project, The Qingpu Cloud Civic Center by Studio Link-Arc.

Entrance is signified by an arch, welcoming visitors through a luminous tunnel. The reception lobby is a spacious node, marked by multiple entry points to exhibition and administrative areas. The large-scale physical model is exhibited adjacent to the reception, where the floor, curvilinear walls and ceiling merge and establish a unique display for the current and future urban habitat of the city. The main hall is lit by an immersive skylight, further accentuating the distinct spatial qualities through light and shadow.

Architecture project, The Cloud Civic Center by Studio Link-Arc.

The Cloud Civic Center of Qingpu is located on the 37th floor of the tallest building in Qingpu District, Shanghai. It has panoramic views of the area. Located on the top floor, the Civic Center breaks away from the rigid grid and typical layout of the office building and takes advantage of the full height of the space, to provide a futuristic urban living room for the community. 150 meters above ground, visitors to the space would experience a journey of meandering among the clouds. Taking inspiration from cloud formations, the Civic Center design treats the interior with a soft, fluid white surface that wraps around the core and re-defines public areas.

The viewing deck provides a moment of pause and appreciation for the view of the city beyond. The balcony on the second floor further demonstrates the panoramic views of the city and acts as a community hub and sky garden.

Architecture project, Tanglang Mountain Country Park City Viewing Platform by Studio Link-Arc.

At the center of the Mirror Pavilion is an amphitheater with the view of Shenzhen Bay as the backdrop. The mountain, the lush forest and the city skyline set the stage for visitors to enjoy a thrilling 360-degree ‘audiovisual’ experience. The design intends to relieve visitors from mundane life and encourages them to appreciate the panoramic view of Shenzhen by providing them with an immersive artistic experience. Construction in the natural landscape represents a dual exploration of rationality and poetry. The Tanglang Mountain viewing platform proposal is not just the design of two isolated pavilions, but a series of spatial nodes that allow people to gather and cultivate community. We try to enhance the perception of nature through minimal design, and provide citizens with a new perspective towards the environment and the city.
