Last month was Older Adult Appreciation Month, and our members truly felt the love.

We’re so grateful to our local leaders for showing up and celebrating the vibrant older adults who make our community shine.

Council Member Lynn Schulman 舒曼琳's office brought pure joy with an incredible sing-along, where our members sang their hearts out. Congresswoman Grace Meng treated our seniors to a fun-filled bowling trip.

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz stopped by to share updates on all the wonderful work she’s doing for our borough. And New York State Senator Joe Addabbo joined us as well, spreading the word about their upcoming events in the neighborhood.

We’re so thankful to our local elected officials and community partners for their continued support and dedication. Your appreciation means the world to us.

Last Thursday, our members came together for a beautiful Rosh Hashanah gathering at the Center, led by Rabbi Friedman of Young Israel of Forest Hills and generously sponsored by Council Member Lynn Schulman 舒曼琳. We are so thankful for the warmth, wisdom, and community spirit shared with us.

As we welcome the Jewish New Year, please note that our Center will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, September 23, and Wednesday, September 24, in observance of Rosh Hashanah.

Wishing you and your loved ones a year of health, peace, and sweetness.

We had another amazing distribution in preparation for Rosh Hashanah. Nearly 250 households were serviced this year — and it would not have been possible without the tremendous generosity of Met Council. Your ongoing support in accommodating our community’s needs has been remarkable.

To our incredible volunteers who gave their time and energy, to our staff who worked so diligently behind the scenes, and to our members who joined together — thank you. This spirit of giving and connection is what makes our community so special.

Wishing everyone a sweet and meaningful year ahead.

It’s been a whirlwind at the center lately, but we didn’t want to miss the chance to say thank you!

This past Thursday, we had the absolute pleasure of joining our friends at Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for a Bar-B-Que—and it was one to remember! From delicious food to warm conversations, the day was filled with joy, connection, and community.

A heartfelt thank you to Linda Spiegel for hosting us so graciously and for allowing us to bring more members than ever before this year. It was especially meaningful to see a few familiar faces from our community who are currently staying at Tietz.

We’re so grateful for this ongoing partnership and can’t wait to do it again next year.

We’re back from our Pesach break and want to wish everyone a happy spring! We hope you had a joyful season filled with meaning and connection.

We also want to take a moment to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Met Council for their incredible generosity. With their support, we were able to distribute 200 Passover packages and 200 kosher-for-Passover meals to our community.

Thank you for helping us make this time of year a little brighter for so many.

Looking forward to seeing everyone back at the center.

What a party!

Our annual Purim Party was truly amazing—a day full of joy, connection, and celebration!

We have so many people to thank for making it all possible:

Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center– for their years of support, including sponsoring our fabulous entertainment, delicious healthy fruity treats, and beautiful shelach manot.

Council Member Lynn Schulman 舒曼琳's office – for providing the meals, decorations, and exciting raffle prizes that brought so many smiles.

NYC Department for the Aging – for their continued partnership and support, helping us serve our older adults with dignity and care.

Our incredible staff – whose dedication ensures every detail is handled with heart, making days like these so special.

And our outstanding volunteers – from YAI and from our very own center – your energy and kindness are everything. You truly make the magic happen!

We’re proud to be the center that keeps giving back to our community—and right now, we’re doing just that by hosting a Participatory Budgeting Vote, organized by Council Member Shulman’s office.

Voting takes place today at 11 AM—come make your voice heard and help decide how to spend $1,000,000 of the city’s budget!

Thank you again to everyone who made our Purim Party unforgettable. Here’s to many more moments of joy and giving back!

We kicked off the new year with an unforgettable trip to the Big Apple Circus, and it was nothing short of magical! Watching the awe and delight on everyone’s faces reminded us of something truly important—how vital it is to play, to connect with our inner child, and to embrace the joy that comes from curiosity and wonder.

At our center, we’re not just a space for programs and activities; we’re a place where happiness, laughter, and exploration are encouraged at any age.

This wonderful outing was made possible through the generous support of Lynn Schulman 舒曼琳 and the NYC Department for the Aging. Their dedication to our community brings opportunities like this to life, and we’re so grateful.

Here’s to starting the year with joy, connection, and the reminder that a little play can do wonders for the soul!
