The Campaign Against Hunger A Community's Approach to Caring

05/29/2026

From farm to family, hope is on the move. đŸ’™đŸ„”

Thanks to Amazon, The Campaign Against Hunger received a generous donation of potatoes that traveled more than 1,700 miles to reach New York City and the families who need them most.

At a time when many New Yorkers are facing difficult choices between paying bills and putting food on the table, contributions like these help ensure that nutritious food continues to reach our neighbors experiencing food insecurity. Every bag distributed represents more than a meal, it represents dignity, relief, and the power of community coming together to support one another.

We are deeply grateful to for helping us strengthen food access across our communities and for standing with families during a time of growing need. Together, we are proving that when communities and partners unite, we can nourish hope and create lasting impact.

As Memorial Day approaches, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave so much in service to our country. But honoring our veterans must also mean standing with those who are still here — especially those facing hunger, hardship, and barriers to healthy food.

Through the Meals With Meaning Veteran Program, The Campaign Against Hunger, HelloFresh, the Governor’s Office, and the NYC Department of Veterans’ Services have helped deliver more than 2 million meals and counting to veterans across New York.

Every Wednesday, meals are packed at TCAH’s East New York Food Hub and distributed with dignity to veterans and their families. We are also grateful to the team and partners for supporting the packing and distribution that helps ensure these meals reach those who need them. Shout out to who’ve supported the packing and distribution for years, bringing veterans and volunteers on Wednesdays to support this program.

No veteran who faithfully served our country should have to wonder where their next meal will come from. This Memorial Day, we recommit to honoring service with action, dignity, and care.

Weekends should never mean uncertainty about where a child’s next meal will come from. Through TCAH’s Weekend Healthy Snack Program, children leave with nutritious snacks and meals that help bridge the gap when school cafeterias are closed.

For so many families across our communities, this program is more than food, it’s relief, dignity, hope, and the reassurance that their children can thrive beyond the classroom.

Every bag packed represents care. Every snack distributed represents a child who matters. And every weekend, together, we are helping build healthier futures one family at a time.

Because hunger doesn’t take the weekend off — and neither do we. 💚

Since the first wave of migrants and asylum-seeking families began arriving in New York City in 2022, The Campaign Against Hunger has remained on the frontlines of response and recovery. Between May and December 2022 alone, TCAH served more than 10,000 migrants and their families through our Bed-Stuy SuperPantry and over 200 partner distribution sites across NYC — ensuring newly arrived families had access to healthy, culturally appropriate food during one of the most uncertain moments of their lives.

But TCAH did more than respond to the crisis — we transformed the food access landscape. As the first organization in New York City to launch a true CyberPantry model, we reimagined what dignified food access could look like for seniors, immigrants, working families, and homebound New Yorkers facing barriers to traditional pantry access.

Through our first-of-its-kind online ordering and home delivery platform, families can choose the foods they need, when they need them, and have them delivered directly to their homes with dignity and care. No long lines. No one-size-fits-all approach. Just equitable, tech-driven food access designed around the realities of modern communities.

Today, TCAH continues to lead the way in advancing innovative, choice-based solutions that meet people where they are — proving that food justice must also include dignity, accessibility, and the power of choice.

Why are some neighborhoods flooded with unhealthy food options
while others have access to fresh, nutritious choices?

That’s not сoincidence— it’s systemic. And our youth are ready to challenge it.

At TCAH’s Voices of Change Youth Leadership Conference, we’re creating space for young leaders to ask the hard questions, speak truth, and drive solutions around food justice, equity, and power.

Because of them, we’re able to reach more families, respond faster, and lead with love every single day. 💛
