SAGE Centers are centers for le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r, and questioning (LGBTQ+) older people age 60+ in New York City—the first centers of their kind in the country. Founded in 2012 as part of New York City's Innovative Senior Center initiative and expanded citywide in 2014, SAGE's Senior Center program provides a comprehensive array of unique services and programs related to art

NEW: Rent Freeze Clinic 🏠

This free clinic connects older adults with volunteer attorneys who will screen them for SCRIE and DRIE rent freeze benefits, provide advice, and assist with applications. Participants are encouraged to bring proof of age and proof of income for all household members in order to fast track the application process. Services are available in English and Spanish.

SAGE was proud to host yesterday’s Legislative Breakfast, bringing together our champions in New York State and New York City government to spotlight the urgent needs of LGBTQ+ older adults 🤝

The conversation underscored how critical it is to invest in equitable aging policies, expand access to affirming services, and combat the isolation and disparities too many LGBTQ+ elders continue to face.

We also highlighted the vital role of SAGE’s four NYC centers and specialized programs, which serve as lifelines for community, care, and connection—providing everything from cultural programming and congregate meals to case management, housing support, and health services.

Together with our government partners, we reaffirmed our shared commitment to ensuring that LGBTQ+ older New Yorkers can age with dignity, respect, and the support they deserve!

SAGE Harlem is hosting a free educational presentation on osteoporosis and bone health on Friday, May 15! This event features Dr. Alexander Goldberg, MD, a board-certified endocrinologist from NYU Langone.
