A former Kansas state legislator and attorney who helped secure major unemployment support in tough fights, Raj has dedicated his life to challenging entrenched power and fixing systems that too often work against everyday people. After moving to New York, he led major civic organizations, and founded Phone Free New York, driving real policy wins that improve people’s lives.

We are proud to endorse Grauven Olivares for New York State Committee Woman!

Grauven is a devoted mother, passionate community leader, and tireless advocate for equitable opportunities in our city. From her work as President of Community Education Council 1 to serving on Manhattan Community Board 3, she shows up for families, fights for quality education, and builds coalitions that strengthen our neighborhoods.

Born in the Dominican Republic and raised here since childhood, her lived experience brings heart, humility, and real perspective to every decision.

State Committee is an unpaid Democratic Party position that allows for transparency, accountability, strengthening of the Democratic Party and real co-governance, things that Grauven has been managing in her current roles.
