Juana is a direct sales consultant and mother of four from Mexico currently living in the Bronx. She came to CIS-NYC seeking counseling support to manage intense stress that was impacting her daily life. After initially feeling anxious about trying counseling, she now feels like her life has changed for the better. She feels more confident in her coping skills, she is currently taking ESL classes that she found independently, and she continues to be a strong and caring mother and community member.

It’s the first day of !

Carmen came to the United States from Honduras in 2024 with her two children, ages 4 and 8, in search of a better future.

When she reached out to us, she was 8 months pregnant, living in a shelter, and navigating the immense challenges of being a single mother in a new country without any support. CIS-NYC immediately offered Carmen resources, like essential infant care items, MetroCards and visa cards, and began working with her to establish broader support for her family through access to our Food Pantry, ongoing case management, and our support group for parents. These programs helped empower her in navigating a new country and experience moments of joy with her family. Today, Carmen and her family continue to benefit from CIS-NYC’s services.
