We serve the communities of Bronx River, Bruckner, Castle Hill, Clason Point, Harding Park, Parkchester, Park Stratton, Soundview, and Unionport. According to the 2010 US Census, our District has a population of 172,000, which makes us the largest Community District in the Bronx. Bronx Community Board 9 strives to improve quality of life for our residents by advocating for new housing and local in

vestment, improving our parks, open spaces, local services, and encouraging community engagement that creates family friendly neighborhoods. We proudly act as a community organizer, constituent advocate, and venue for civic engagement for our District. The Community Board works with our local elected officials to ensure city services are delivered to our Constituents, as well as with community-based organizations on local events and projects. The Board serves as a critical information resource for community members. The Board strives to ensure that the future of our community is the best one possible. We are committed to being actively engaged with issues and developments ongoing within our District.

The Homes & Housing Committee represents the community’s interests with regards to housing related matters and concerns, namely in relation to NYCHA, and acts as a liaison between community members and the New York City Housing Authority as well as local property owners, management teams, TAs and HOAs.

The Youth & Education committee represents the community’s interests with regards to education and programs that target the youth and acts as a liaison between community members and the NYC Department of Education including Parent Advocates, PTA’s, Educators and Principals, School Safety, the Administration for Children Services, NYC Department of Youth & Development and local organizations and nonprofits.
