For almost three decades, Global Medical Relief Fund (GMRF) has helped children with limb loss and other medical needs access the care, prosthetics, rehabilitation, and support they need to build brighter futures.

From the United States to countries around the world, GMRF works to ensure that children facing extraordinary challenges have the opportunity to heal, grow, and dare to dream.

This year, we are honored to recognize two remarkable women whose dedication to making a difference reflects the spirit of our mission: Alice B. Diamond and Caroline Diamond Harrison

Welcome, Merci!

Please join us in welcoming Merci from Rwanda. Born with a shortened leg, Merci has undergone multiple surgeries, rehabilitation, and prosthetic care at Shriners Children’s Philadelphia over the years. Through every step of his journey, he has faced challenges with remarkable courage and determination.

Today, Merci is back with us for an important milestone: his final visit with GMRF and Shriners Children’s Philadelphia. He has begun the process of being fitted for his new and final prosthetic leg.

We are honored to walk alongside Merci on this journey and incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported him along the way.

Meet Aroush from Pakistan, a beloved member of the GMRF family, who embodies courage and determination! After a three-year wait, she finally found her way to our Dare to Dream House in 2017, marking the beginning of an incredible journey with GMRF and Shriners Children’s Philadelphia. Today, we celebrate her fifth visit and her journey to receive new prosthetics. Aroush's story is a testament to the human spirit, as she overcame the challenges of ill-fitting prosthetics and rose above, growing stronger, more confident, and more independent with each visit.

She dreams of becoming an ambassador for people with different abilities and advocating for education.

🌟 Her journey is a powerful reminder that, with opportunity, every child can dare to dream. 🌟

Thank You for Rising to Care!

What an incredible evening of generosity, community, and compassion at the Rise to Care fundraiser benefiting The Global Medical Relief Fund (GMRF).

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us, supported the event, and helped make the evening such a tremendous success. A very special thank-you to the owners of Bay Street Tavern for opening their doors—and their hearts—to GMRF and the children we serve.

And an extra-special thank-you to the band Mercury Rising for rocking the night! Special shout-out to Bill Donnelly, Peggy Friedman, Denise Hartford, James Greico, and Carmen Velazquez. Your incredible energy and dedication helped make this evening truly unforgettable.

We are especially grateful to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Color Guard at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) for their beautiful and moving performance of the national anthem. Their presence made the evening even more special.

Our special guest, Aroush from Pakistan, a triple amputee, had the opportunity to experience firsthand the warmth and compassion of our Staten Island community. For a child who has faced so much, being surrounded by people who believe in her, support her, and want to see her thrive is a gift beyond measure.

We could not be prouder to be part of Aroush’s healing journey, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who is helping make that journey possible.

This is what community and hope feel like.
