Shortly after the Parkland, FL school shooting, President Trump had said he would pursue raising the age limit to purchase assault rifles from 18 to 21. However, after a meeting with the N.R.A., the President has backed down from this proposal, and instead is now focusing on strengthened background checks, the banning of bump stocks, and arming teachers with guns as ways to protect students from school shootings.
In your opinion, would these measures, specifically arming teachers, be effective to protect against school shootings? What consequences could there be, and would they outweigh the benefits?
