Nearly 200 families joined us for our Passport to Possibilities Back-to-School Event, and together we distributed 367 backpacks to East Harlem students!
Thank you to our generous sponsors, volunteers, and in-kind partners, including Emanu-El who provided fully stocked backpack with snacks for middle-schoolers and Dunkin', who provided gift cards, donuts, and drinks for families throughout the day.
Because of your support, children are heading back to school prepared, confident, and ready to learn. 💙📚

We’re excited to provide backpacks to help our young people start the school year prepared, confident, and ready to succeed.
🎒 Children must be present to receive a backpack.
📦 Backpacks are available while supplies last.

Acompáñanos mañana, 27 de agosto, de 12:00 PM a 4:00 PM en El Sito Community Garden, 237 E 104th Street, para celebrar el regreso de la Entrega de Mochilas de Union Settlement.
Esta iniciativa impulsada por la comunidad está diseñada para ayudar a los jóvenes de Union Settlement a prepararse, sobresalir y alcanzar sus metas durante el nuevo año escolar.

Union Settlement and East Harlem Community Health Committee (EHCHC) were pleased to host NYC Aging Commissioner Dr. Lisa Scott-McKenzie for a site visit at the Washington Lexington Community Center, located at 1775 3rd Ave, NY, NY 10029, on July 31, 2026.

During the visit, Commissioner Scott-McKenzie toured the center, learned about the accomplishments of our Older Adult Services programs, engaged with participants, and saw firsthand how our newly renovated space is helping us better serve the East Harlem community.
