Fort Greene Council, Inc. (FGC) is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization established in Brooklyn, New York in 1973 and incorporated in 1974. The Council’s strives to provide services at several stages of the life cycle, at the beginning with our early childhood programs, and through the conclusion with our programs for older adults. In Brooklyn, FGC provides services to older adults from 14 senior centers in seven community districts; and one day care center. In 1990, we launched JAZZ 966 to promote jazz in the community for seniors and the public at large.

🎉 NATIONAL GRANDPARENTS DAY AT BLENMAN! 🎉

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of spending the afternoon at our Christopher Blenman Older Adult Club for a wonderful National Grandparents Day celebration! 💛

The afternoon started with a delicious and nutritious brunch, and then Blenman did what they do best — DANCE! 💃🏾🕺🏾

We partied all afternoon, celebrating our grandparents, our members, and the joy of community! 🎶🙌🏾

It was especially wonderful to see Blenman OAC back in its newly renovated and revamped space. The club is looking better than ever, and the energy is unmatched! ✨

Stop by Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM to see what all the hype is about! We promise, they won’t disappoint. 😉

🎉 WHAT A CELEBRATION! 🎉

We were thrilled to join our partners at CAMBA for the Grand Reopening of CAMBA Boulevard Cornerstone, a space that holds a special place in the Boulevard community and is also home to our Boulevard Older Adult Club! ❤️

The day was filled with BBQ, music, games, giveaways, a bounce house, community resources, and plenty of smiles as families, neighbors, and community partners came together to celebrate this exciting new chapter. 🥳

A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to Councilmember Chris Banks (Councilmember Chris Banks 42) for his generous donation and, more importantly, his continued commitment to Fort Greene Council, our Boulevard Older Adult Club members, and the older adults of Boulevard and Brownsville. ✨STYLE IS AGELESS! ✨

Today, we had the absolute pleasure of joining NYC Aging at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) for Style Is Ageless, and let us just say… our older adults understood the assignment! 🔥👏🏾

Nineteen incredible older adults took center stage, showcasing custom-designed looks inspired by their life stories, personal experiences, cultural heritage, and unique sense of style. And seeing these looks come to life on the runway was nothing short of spectacular!

We were especially proud to see members of the Fort Greene Council family participating in the show and representing our community with style, confidence, and plenty of personality! 💃🏾🕺🏾✨

A very special THANK YOU to NYC Aging for creating a space where aging isn’t something to hide, it’s something to celebrate. ❤️ And of course, to FIT for welcoming us into one of the world’s most iconic fashion institutions.

We also had the pleasure of hearing from Fern Mallis, the visionary creator of New York Fashion Week, who helped make today’s celebration even more special.

From the runway to our Older Adult Clubs across Brooklyn, we know that style has no expiration date!

Two of our incredible members, Mr. Jay and Ms. Muhammad, have officially joined the Centenarian Club! 🥳💯 And what better way to celebrate than with a HUGE 100th birthday celebration surrounded by family, friends, their extended FGC family, and some of the Who’s Who of NYC elected officials!

Our Grant Square Older Adult Club was filled with love, laughter, joy, and plenty of well-deserved recognition as Mr. Jay and Ms. Muhammad were presented with citations honoring this incredible milestone. 🎂🎈🏆

Reaching 100 is no small feat, and being able to celebrate these two remarkable members together was truly something special. We are so honored to have them as part of the FGC family!
