Rising Ground

Driven by the belief that each of us can thrive when life has hope and opportunity, Rising Ground provides caring support and proven paths to positive change, helping children, adults, and families rise above adversity. Rising Ground envisions a future for New York where every child has an equal opportunity to succeed; where vulnerable individuals and families have the resources and support they n

May in Review 🏆
This month we showed up and showed out in our communities. We partnered with JS123 and BuildOn for “Together We Thrive,” a resource fair and community dinner in The Bronx; young people celebrated Earth Day with fun activities. embarked on a college tour, and attended a career fair; we hosted a Mother’s Day event; and we rallied for “Equal Pay for Equal Work” alongside fellow human services workers. We also held our Employee Recognition Evening, celebrating those who go above and beyond for New York City’s children, families, and communities every single day.

Who remembers last year's Employee Excellence Awards night?

Watching our staff receive their recognition, hear their names called, and speak about what this work means to them reminded us exactly why we do this. These are the people behind every family supported, every young person housed, every life changed across New York City.
Take a look back at the night with us. And stay tuned, because 2026 awards are right around the corner.

📞 When Alan calls you out of nowhere on a random afternoon... your whole day changes. 🏆
Every year, Rising Ground's CEO personally calls staff to surprise them with the news that they've won an Employee Excellence Award.

Candle making. Bowling. Karaoke. Axe throwing. BBQ in the sun.

Across all five boroughs and Westchester, our teams came together for recognition moments, team-building, and a whole lot of laughter. Because the work we do is only possible because of the 1,800+ people who pour their hearts into it.

To every Rising Ground employee: we see you, we value you and we are so proud to work alongside you. 💙

This Mental Health Month, we're highlighting Dani, who took the stage at Rising Ground's annual gala and spoke honestly about the role counseling has played in her life. She described how it shifted her perspective and changed the way she sees the world around her. Her words were a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when young people have access to consistent, quality mental health support. Learn more about our work here: https://hubs.la/Q04gv_h50

Our social workers see it every day. A young person comes through the door and the smallest things, a bar of soap, a clean pair of socks, can change how they feel walking back out.
Our Essentials Drive is running now and we need your help to stock up for the young people at our Bronx programs and beyond. Toiletries, personal care items, undergarments, socks, and outerwear are all needed.

If you or your workplace wants to donate, visit https://hubs.la/Q04gGXy70 or reach out to [email protected]. 💙

Rising Ground is proud to share a remarkable milestone that speaks to the heart of our mission: community.

Our Senior Director, Stephanie Menyhay, was recently invited to attend a royal roundtable discussion on the therapeutic benefits of reading for survivors of intimate partner violence which was held during the royal visit to New York City. The event was presented by The Queen's Reading Room, the charitable initiative of Queen Camilla, and took place at the historic New York Public Library. Stephanie also had the distinguished honor of meeting Queen Camilla herself.

At Rising Ground, we believe that healing is not a solo journey, it is a community endeavor. Being invited into conversations at this level affirms that the work we do every day, alongside the individuals and families we serve, matters on a global stage.

Reading, storytelling, and shared human experience are powerful tools in trauma recovery. We are grateful to The Queen's Reading Room for elevating this important dialogue and for including Rising Ground as a voice in it.

To our staff, our clients, and our community: this recognition belongs to all of you. 💛

Here's a question: What's under your sink?
Most of us have more than we need and right now, there are young people in our community who don't have basic items. No soap. No shampoo. No deodorant. Items we reach for without thinking every single morning.

For a young person experiencing homelessness, for a young person these items are the difference between walking into a job interview with confidence or not walking in at all.

This is your reminder that the smallest donation from your cabinet can be the biggest turning point in a young person's life. Click the link: https://hubs.la/Q04fsv2M0

Most needed items: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, deodorant, toothbrush & toothpaste, feminine hygiene products.
